WARNING: This place will try to scam you! Casa Roja runs an elaborate con and the whole staff is in on it to some degree. First, they throw bread on your plate which they will charge you for unless you tell them to take it away immediately. This would be par for the course with Spanish restaurants, nothing to write home about, but sadly the garlic bread is the tip of the scam iceberg at Casa Roja. After adding our individual charges, we realized we were overcharged nearly 30% on our final bill. It works because the wait staff force you to pay inside, where everything is busy and you are constantly being jostled around and asked to hurry up by the owner. Then while you pay, he offers you free shots and fist bumps all around (??). To add to the confusion, he mentions free cocktails upstairs. Weird but nice right? We didn't take him up on that, and instead stood nearby trying to figure out why our bill was so high. This visibly bothered the owner, but instead of talking to us inside where other customers could see, he waited until we left and then followed us outside, where he gave a really genuine sounding spiel about how much he cares about his business and how it was an honest mistake. He convinced us he only overcharged us by €10 and gave us that amount back with a performative apology, but that was only a fourth of what his business actually grifted off of us. And if you think like we did that this might have been a one time mistake, go read other one-star reviews. The Casa Roja Gang have been skimming the tops of tourist wallets for at least five years at this point. I can't decide if I'm angry or just impressed. You guys really put the artist in the con! Thanks for the underwhelming fish though.
