Boquete Seafood Market was a wonderful ‘find’ for us! We live in Boca Chica and our nearest shopping location is normally David. However, we were in Boquete for a few days and I’d read about Boquete Seafood Market and wanted to check it out, more out of curiosity than anything else. What a surprise!! They had fresh sushi grade tuna, Kanpachi (amberjack), and several types of salmon suitable for sushi/sashimi. They also had beautiful lobster tails and large scallops, local Pargo and Corvina. The shop was spotless and thoughtfully stocked with items that would go with the fish they sold - we saw sushi grade rice (vacuum packed), various soy, wasabi, pickled ginger, rice vinegar and other sauces, seasoning for sushi rice (Tōgarashi) and packages of very nice looking seaweed (the kind for seaweed salad), as well as sheets for rolls. The prices were very competitive and our tuna was on sale for $4.00 per pound - which we thought was a gift!!! The guy behind the counter, Davis, was very, very helpful and interested to hear our comments and was keen to know what we thought of the cost of their fish - excellent. We were only looking for sushi fish, but throughout the year the market gets all kinds of wonderful fish that you don’t see in the Panamanian supermarkets. Grouper, Catfish, Whole Mackerel, wonderful shrimp (red or white season depending). If you want a great selection of very fresh fish (or even frozen fish), this is a wonderful...

Not only that, previously they had Prawns without the heads when I explained to them the heads have flavour, they started stocking them. It is clear to me that this shop takes customer care seriously. If you are in Boquete and looking for fresh fish, I can highly...

Back in Berkeley, California this 2 pounds of FRESH TUNA would have cost me at least $40 or more depending on where you bought it! For me here at Boquete seafood market it was $4.36/lb. No way back in the states you are going to get anywhere...
