LUNA ROOFTOP — Restaurant in Bella Vista

My family and I wanted to do something special for my younger sister's birthday while we were visiting Panama City on vacation. We opted for a change in scenery despite having experienced the rooftops at Casco Viejo earlier in the week. I can honestly say it was the WORST decision we could have made.

First of all, to gain access to this rooftop, you have to go through a residential apartment complex. It doesn't really give you the upscale atmosphere that their social media and website are portraying. Once you arrive to the rooftop, you are surrounded with chairs/tables that literally resemble the ones in my grandmother's backyard. There was no one at the entrance to seat us and it appeared that everyone had to fend for themselves. The service was non-existent to say the least. Once we were able to claim a table, the waiter eventually made his way to us 30 minutes later. The drink menu was basic with only things like sangria, beer and mojitos. We ordered as little as possible given that the venue was packed and it seemed like the staff was struggling. We ordered 3 drinks, one queso fundido and a cheese platter. We received the drinks and queso within the first hour, however, the cheese platter never came despite waiting over 2 hours. We saw the waiters serving tables with more people (I get it, it's a better tip) despite us waiting a ridiculous amount of time. We realized this would not be the birthday celebration we had wanted for my sister and decided we could no longer wait. We hunted down the waiter and addressed our concerns, however, he made excuses saying they were busy and he has no control over the kitchen. Mind you, we were just waiting for a cheese platter, like how long could that possibly take. I make them at home in under 10 minutes. That being said, this place would receive zero stars if it wasn't for the gorgeous building views.

I feel awful for wasting my family's time by checking out Luna Rooftop in the first place. I would definitely avoid this rooftop and stick to Casco Viejo. We ended up going to Lazotea Rooftop and were immediately blown away. The service and ambiance were immaculate. The staff sang "Happy Birthday" for my sister and ended up giving her a birthday dessert...

Friday May 30th, the lightskin guy amongst all the ladies to be honest and fair made the service here ABSOLUTELY AMAZING- as a picky client that means a lot in many ways, his thoughtfulness and attention to detail should make him totally be GM at any place (obviously not my business or place to say for here haha) but he was a perfectionist and I observed him taking care of everyone's table regardless of the server for it i causing mine, I went back after paying to tip him extra personally but didn't see him

Even if booked in advance, I did not get lucky enough regarding the weather. Even so there is a covered area, with tables where you can enjoy an experience. The view is nice, but the service need improvement. The lack of English speakers among employee is a big minus, as a tourist I did not know I need to learn Spanish. The place isn't clean as it should be. Quite hard to reach. The building has no sign of the rooftop and was quite difficult to find it even if I had exact location. A have chosen the location due the roff top bars top rating. It needs a lot of improvement, but the view worth a try, armed with no expectation...
