Dodo is by far the most precious restaurant I’ve had brunch at in Casco Viejo. The owner, Marcella, has turned her cafe into a magical experience. From the design of the interior, the impeccable location, the service, to the absolutely outstanding food, this is a rare jewel. I’ve noticed most restaurants in Panama City do not cook scrambled eggs the way I prefer. They under cook the eggs a bit for my liking. They also don’t season the eggs well. At Dodo, I ate every last morsel of food. The pancakes were made of air. They are the best I’ve ever had the world over. My husband gobbled down both of our yogurt parfaits. He couldn’t stop himself. The coffee is a memory all by itself! If you can only eat brunch once in P.C. this is easily the best cafe you’ll find. Marcella has hit it out of the park. I used to run a restaurant so I know how hard it is to pull all of the key aspects of a restaurant off. She did it! I almost hate to gush so much because I want to keep Dodo as a special place for my husband and I to eat at, but I have to give credit where it’s due. I respect Marcella’s accomplishment too much not to share my feelings. Also, she speaks excellent English which is nice if that’s your native tongue. Many thanks to her for creating such a lovely environment and food. We can’t...
Read moreWell, things started off well, the decor was nice and they had brunch. Then we were read out the menu as they don't have it online or a physical copy. When I asked to read it over, the waitress asked me to take a photo of her phone. We chose the brunch with juices, coffee and some food. We had ordered a capuchino and late that came as literally a glass of warm milk, no color or taste of coffee. So we asked for just plain black coffee. It turned out to be burned , so we asked for a splash of milk. The food was mediocre, salmon tasted like it was opened a week ago and avocado was too green. French toast was soggy and eggs were overcooked.
We were also overcharged for milk and juice. First time I saw a charge for a splash of milk in coffee in my life. For juice, they asked whether we wanted orange/mango or passion fruit. We ordered orange and mango. So when the bill came, it was very surprising that we were charged an extra $5.50 for mango juice and $1.50 for a splash of milk. When we asked, waitress said that mango juice and milk is extra but menu said nothing about this, it just listed coffee and juice. Neither were we told that it's extra when ordering. They refused to remove these charges. I guess covid made them greedy and sloppy with food. Oh well, time to find another...
Read moreWent for my wife's birthday but no food for 1.5h after entry. Also told us after an hour after ordering that one thing we ordered wasn't available. Ended up leaving just after the food was put on the table as we'd given up. Not the day we wanted. After a certain point you are just not valuing your customer's time and that point had already passed well before we left. The person who served us the food looked incredulous we decided to just get up and leave as though they deserved our money just because we happened to be there. Let me ask you: does it take 1.5 hours to put some pieces of cheese and meat on a plate? The answer from the staff here is that yes this is a reasonable amount of time for a non cooked meal. Might just be about the worst wait I've ever...
