This basic but very clean hotel is an excellent choice for anyone on a tight budget visiting Arequipa. It would be a great place to stay if you were a young backpacker. ||||The hotel is small and the building surrounds a very small enclosed (some kind of light permeable roofing) inner courtyard.||||I was on the third floor which meant trekking up three flights of stairs. As I was in Arequipa for business for a week I had large heavy suitcase to drag up, no one was around to offer assistance. No problem for me, but worth a mention to anyone with mobility issues.||||Room: I believe my room was about 10’ by 10’. At least that’s what it felt like. OK that’s a lie, it felt like it was about 8’/8’. There was very little natural light as the room’s window looked out into the enclosed courtyard. I found it very dark and almost claustrophobic at first, but I got used to it. I only went in to sleep at any rate. ||||Bed: It was surprisingly comfortable. The bed linens were clean and fresh. There was a large heavy alpaca blanket on top - great for warmth, but I wondered how often it was washed. Not that it looked dirty…but as I get older the more freaked out I am about using blankets that hundreds of others have slept in. I got over it quickly as it was September when I visited and when the sun went down - it became quite chilly. I was just happy to be warm.||||Staff: The staff were very nice. Honestly, other than no one being around to help with the bags, they couldn’t do enough for you. ||||Breakfast: The breakfast was good and hot. ||||Noise: Bring earplugs. The phone ringing at the front desk is very loud and echoes through the courtyard. The noise from the streets (car alarms going off all night) also woke me constantly. I am a deep sleeper. I slept through the celebratory noise of Ramadan after dark in downtownTyre, Lebanon. I could not sleep through the front desk phone and the car alarms.||||Location: Perfect. Walking distance to everything including some excellent restaurants and shops.||||Would I stay again? Not on a business trip when I need a good night sleep in order to function. I would stay if I went back as a tourist as the price was right and the location...
Read moreFirst, I have to say that the staff of the hotel is very nice, helpful and cooperative.||My room was advertised as "with views of the city". Not at all. It was an interior room, with old bedclothes (with stains), no safe, and almost no hot water. ||It is true that it is very cheap, and it is located near most of the touristic attractions of Arequipa.||Breakfast is very bad, it consisted in two small pieces of bread, hot water (to prepare your instant coffee with the powder they provided), and eggs (to be ordered).||During my stay (two nights) they were installing an elevator, so during the day there was also noise from the workers.||The bed was very food, firm and during the night there was no noise at all.||The last day there was no hot water at all, so I called the reception. Immediately they did something and I had hot water, but I never had to use the cold water to temper it, it was not really that hot.||However, as I said, most of touristic attractions are nearby, as well as restaurants,...
Read moreEven though the edifice has a potential to become a great hostel, the way that it is ran does not allow much pleasure to the guest. Definitely not a welcoming feeling, not a single smile from the personel, that was the contrary to what we encountered in most of the hotels around Peru for about a month. The room was very spacious, however it should be more thoroughly cleaned to accept guests. There is no hair dryer but when we asked they brought us one. The breakfast included two breads per person, a bit of butter and marmelade, a small dish of scrambled eggs and a juice. However, it was served in such a strange way taking such a long time to bring everything, that you felt like going before you finished it. Overall just ok but we would consider searching for another...
