Im a creature of habit - my go to for traditional Peruvian Criolla style food has always been Tanta. With limited meals over the course of a vacation, I was incredibly skeptical when a friend recommended Isolina, but we decided to give it a shot. Reservations are hard to come by (in fact they were booked out for two weeks), but my friend had a connection and was able to get me and my daughter a reservation. We were staying in Miraflores and the restaurant is located in the neighboring neighborhood, Barranco. We decided to make a day of it and walk over and do some walking tours of the neighborhood until our reservation at 6:30. Barranco was very cool with some awesome street art (but I digress). As 6:30 came upon us we were famished and promptly arrived at Isolina for our 6:30 reservation - only to realize I had misread the date and showed up two days early. Isolina handled this like champs and managed to accommodate us fairly quickly (with about 5 minutes) - I was relieved that we would not have to figure out a plan B with a hangry 6 year old in tow. The restaurant had a very cool and cozy vibe, unassuming from the outside and the inside a mix of traditional and authentic stylings. We impressed with the decor, but the true test was about to come. My daughter and I shared two causas (because she couldn’t decide between the Causa de Limeña y the Causa de Pulpo de Olivo) and our favorite dish: Ají de Gallena. They also had a great selection of sugar free juices, my daughter had a Maracuyá (Passionfruit) and I had a pisco sour, very generous glass. Cutting to the chase, everything was absolutely outstanding! My daughter was correct in wanting both causas. The Limeña lived up to the hype as the traditional causa and the pulpo de olivo was a great take on a traditional cevicheria dish. The Ají de Gallena was up for debate, I thought it was outstanding generous portion for their “small” option; the sauce was rich, thick and creamy and the chicken and potatoes were cooked to perfection. My daughter’s one critique is she preferred a little bit of a lighter va thicker sauce, otherwise it was perfect. If you made it this far in the review, thank you. TL;DR, Isolina will definitely be in our future Lima restaurant rotations.

If you want to experience one of the best Peruvian experience in Lima this restaurant is for you! Traditional dishes served for 1 or 2. Drinks are really good and the taste of the food is very authentic you can't miss that! I always go twice before I leave a comment and I can tell that the food is well prepared and the taste make you feel you are in Perú. I've tried many dishes so I don't really remember what I chose but patitas al manille was amazing, seco de carne was a blast and carapulcra was very good as well this dish is made with peruvian dry potato. Desserts are good too my only problem is that I always feel rushed by the waiters everytime I go there, not nice and professional to me but the food worth the visite at some point. Prices are a big high for Lima but the food is very good! Be prepared to wait a little on week ends as the restaurant is very popular but over all you will have a great time in this typical Peruvian restaurant. I always base my comments on various experience in the same place to be the most fair person and leave legit review in all places I go. Sophisticated yet relaxed and unpretentious restaurant with large portions, so come hungry! We made a reservation for 7pm but finished exploring the neighboring Barranco area earlier than expected. They were able to seat us anyway as the restaurant wasn't very busy yet (I recommend making a reservation though as it filled up quickly). Between the four of us, we shared the pan con pejerrey (fish sandwich), ensalada mixta, causa escabechada (cold mashed potatoes with bonito fish), arroz tapado (layered rice and minced meat with fried egg and plantains). Good flavours - we especially liked the pan con pejerrey and the minced meat in the arroz tapado. Ensalada mixta was very refreshing. Portions are big so we ended up bringing leftovers home (mostly potatoes from the causa escabechada and the arroz tapado). We also ordered the passionfruit juice which was fresh and sweet. Prices are reasonable for the quality and quantity. Service is friendly and they speak English. Food came out quickly despite the busy dinner rush. Ambiance is rustic and casual, there's a small private room on the second floor as well. However, the AC was on full blast when we visited at the end of March so we felt quite cold.

One of the best spot in Lima to enjoy traditional peruvian food. Generous and flavorfull dishes. Please keep in mind that the portions are easy for 2 or more. Chicha morada (made from the peruvian purple corn) or maracuya (passon fruit) pitcher its a great start to refresh your pallet to get the peruvian flavors in your mouth. Ceviche, fresh fish with both peruvian corn the boiled and the fried with salt, sweet potatos if you need to take a lil bit down the spice..... Jalea de hueveras was crispy with lots of reluah with peruvian yellow peppers comes with yucca and sweet potatos. The papa rellena (stuff potato with meat) for a share appetizer its big and generous in meat inside. Aji de gallina if you like chicken or its a must and of course the lomo saltado for the meat lovers.....the sauted flavor in this dish it's out of the chart. All pisco drinks are magnifique! This time we have room left for 3 desserts so we got the suspiro limeno with chirimoya that is a 5 stars! Crema volteada, creamy and sweet! And a classic combo arroz con leche and mazamorra morada....... if you have more questions please feel free to ask!!!!

Don’t be fooled by its neighborhood bistro look, the restaurant serves some seriously delicious food that’s great to share with friends. Please make sure you book ahead of time coz they are popular! We had salad, mussels and fried silverside as starters and they were all excellent. I liked them personally but my friends thought they were too sour especially the mussels. The sauce of the silverside were on the sour side as well. The braised beef were extremely flavorful and fork tender, best eat with beans and rice. The roast pork however were the only thing we didn’t like. The skin was not crispy enough so it was hard to chew through and the cut of pork were too fatty. The dessert were limited but we only ordered one to share among 6 of us and we couldn’t finish it as it was too sweet but tasty nonetheless. The chamomile tea was excellent as they use fresh chamomile and lemon verbena. Chicha was good dessert option.
