Punta sal y benavides — Restaurant in Lima Metropolitan Area

Food was great and everything was great. But when we got the bill, I was asked if I wanted to leave a tip. I was told many times here that it’s not typical to tip here in Peru so when the server asked me if I wanted to add a tip I said sure since he was very nice. At first I told him 7 soles, then he said are you sure? He made me feel uncomfortable so I said 10 soles. After he rang us out, it appears he was not happy with what I had given him. His demeanor completely changed. He wasn’t smiling anymore, when my cousin asked him if he could take the picture he said no I have to clean the table. There was 2 more people there so it’s not like he couldn’t do it. Due to his actions and acting ungrateful we will not come back, even if the was was delicious. That is not how you treat your customers. You can be disappointed but you shouldn’t be rude. I gave him plenty enough, I paid him the same amount I paid for the taxi to get there. The place looked terrific. We got there at 4pm on Monday and they are supposed to close at 5 pm. I asked if its ok and the server said no problem.. I was excited because I read reviews that food is excellent and everything else is excellent. We ordered and told the waiter that i needed time for me to decide for my msin course. Then in less that 10 minutes, here comes the waiter with everything all at once; drinks, appepetizer and main course that my wife ordered. I had been here before on previous trips to Lima. What I appreciate most about Punta Sal is how consistent they have been with their food quality. I always get cerviche here and I have always been happy. I again ordered cerviche and again was happy with the dish. It has just the right spice, just the right acid and the fish is always fresh. The sweet potato was excellent and adds a perfect sweet offset to the dish. I highly recommend the cerviche. Other dishes we tried were the Sudado and "Piqueo Individual B" - both were very good.
