My fiancé and I will never stay here again. My bag and passport was rummaged through during a two hour period away from the room, during which time the housekeeper was the only entrant. She displaced all items in the passport booklet from their original places, and stole $600 USD. Upon our return, we could tell items were gone through, and found all this upon closer inspection. Advising the hotel reception was a mistake because they told the housekeeper of the accusation before properly investigating or searching. My fiancé is native to Lima Perú, and she could tell that this housekeeper was changing her story, and obviously guilty of this. We asked to speak with the general manager, who refused to come to the hotel, or even make a phone call to talk to us and the next day, security, reception, and the general manager all said that we are lying, and that they refuse to accuse one of their staff of anything. The tone and words used in Spanish I later realized were very belittling and discriminatory, as my fiancé explained. This particular housekeeper has only been there a couple months, and they kept indicating that the hotel is one year old, and it’s never happened before. It just made me think that they believe that this was an impossibility. I am an incredibly detailed person, and I knew exactly how much of each of the four currencies I had in my passport booklet how it was put in my passport book and where it was, in each slot of the booklet, not to mention the exact way, I placed the passport booklet in my bag. I stay at Hilton’s all over the world throughout the year, many times, and have never felt it necessary to lock up my belongings in the safe… I only feel that way at other hotels. For that reason, I will never go back to this hotel, and currently visiting with the embassy and the police of Lima Perú to investigate this hotel and the housekeeper. I’ve also contacted Hilton corporate and pursuing resolution or possible legal options regarding our treatment as Hilton honor members, and their basic discrimination of us as guests. I understand there’s a lot of reviews that are good… To their credit the rooms are nice. The top floor is nice and the hotel is in a good location, however, the integrity of the staff is at an all time low and for that reason I recommend not...
Read moreI was very happy with my choice of hotel in Lima. Great location, accessible to shopping, beach (with a walk down/up a long hill,) great restaurants, and parks! I will definitely stay here again. The architecture was different. There were no 90-degree angles. All the walls were angled up, sideways, etc. Likewise, the furniture was angular. One of the staff explained the inspiration for the architecture came from the seaside cliffs. The breakfast buffet was very good and a good value. Lots of variety. The service in the breakfast cafe was excellent. My checkin was efficient, and the room (bed, closet, carpet, safe, frig, air conditioner) was very nice. The only thing missing from the room was ventilation in the bathroom. It could get very humid in there and take a long time to dry. The rooftop was small but comfortable. The pool was generously heated. There were nearby lockers and restrooms for changing. The rooftop bar staff was accommodating, even getting me a coffee from the ground floor. From what I could see, the view was not very interesting from any side of the building (see pics.) So I would advise not paying extra for a view room. I enjoyed the pop music played throughout the hotel (hallways, restaurant, rooftop.) The one exception was in the reception /lobby. This part of the hotel is loud, and the space creates an echo. Communication was always difficult at the front desk. This situation was described last month by a reviewer named Marco. It has not been corrected. There was security/doorman presence 24 hours at the front door. These men were extremely cordial and helpful. There were adverts for rooftop parties on certain nights of the week. Some of them advertise "unlimited drinks." I was not there on the party nights, but it is something to consider if you are going to stay on the top floors. The gym was nice: free weights, yoga mats, treadmills. Finally, my compliments to the staff and their trainers. Everyone who interacted with me was caring and professional. Some of the names I recall are Beatriz, Hector, Alex, Diego, Stephanie. There were many, many more. I'm sorry I can't recognize each one of them individually. From the rooftop to the front door to the restaurant, everyone did...
Read moreI want to take a moment to highlight the outstanding service I received from the front desk agent, Victor. When I arrived, he was professional, charismatic, and genuinely welcoming. His charm and friendly personality put me, my mom, and my sister at ease. I really appreciated the attention to detail. He pronounced my name correctly as Katie instead of Katí, which made me feel respected and valued. He also spoke English and Spanish fluently, switching effortlessly between the two so my whole family felt included in the conversation. I am also bilingual, but feel more comfortable speaking English, and Victor made that transition natural and easy. Victor even contacted me through WhatsApp to check how my stay was going, which felt thoughtful and personal. Later, when I called the front desk for extra bath towels, he answered in Spanish and immediately switched to English when I replied. Not only did he provide the towels, but he went above and beyond by bringing more than I needed. He also took the time to explain all of the hotel’s amenities, thanked me for my Hilton Honors Silver status and Team Member status, and clarified where my 50 percent Team Member discount applied. As someone who works at a Hilton property in Las Vegas, Nevada, I can honestly say Victor set the bar high. He is welcome at my hotel anytime. This Hilton Garden Inn in Lima far exceeded my experience at the DoubleTree in Trujillo, where the staff only spoke Spanish, never acknowledged my Hilton Honors status, and did not recognize my Team Member status or explain my discount. Despite not working for that property, Victor even went so far as to apologize on their behalf, which shows how much he cares about the Hilton brand and the guest experience. My mom was especially impressed with our stay, so she plans to return with my grandma using the Friends and Family rate. My mom and grandma were born in Peru but immigrated to the United States, and staying here in Lima at the Hilton Garden Inn has made the experience even more meaningful. Overall, Victor truly elevated our stay. His professionalism, warmth, and genuine ability to connect with guests make him an exceptional Hilton Garden Inn Lima...
