Not even kidding this was of the best meals I’ve had. I waited several hours to decide whether I actually felt the same way before posting this review. Everything I ordered was achieved levels of perfection I did know were attainable in the kitchen. Let’s get started… Pisco Sour (my first one ever) was superb. Not sure what the frothy stuff was on the top but I loved it. I got the big one (it’s a double)- I recommend you do or you’ll just end up ordering another one when you taste it. Appetizers: scallops I had were in the shell, topped with Parmesan cheese. They were as fresh as they were flavorful and that is saying an awful lot! So delicious!! Had them bring out a salad with it- also fantastic. Entree: got the filet mignon with shrimp (surf and turf). Unbelievably good. Cooked precisely to the temperature I ordered and the chimichurri sauce with it was out of this world. Service was amazing. Please tip them properly- they deserve it. All in all, seriously on my top 10 list of all time meals and believe me they had to bump off a really good previous experience somewhere very special to make the top 10. Dining with ocean views is nothing new for this Californian but when a top-notch meal pairs with that view it is something magical. I may go back this week. I deserve experiences like these. You do too.

Ok. So this is an interesting place. It looks like it has a good view but generally when you get a table it’s really not a great view. Many tables are not in direct line of the sea. Still it’s an interesting place. One of the interesting things is that you cannot get a glass of wine. Only a bottle. Great unless you are here on your own. I ordered a steak. It was salty and tasty served on charcoal tray to keep it hot The rice with the meal was plain and dry unless you added mustard which was provided.?? Considering that I had a whole Bottle of wine to enjoy your would think there would be a bread basket I could order or a cheese plate. Something at least since I still had a half bottle of wine to enjoy. No. Not so much. There is corn. Ok. For a restaurant with such a location and only bottle of wine and no glasses of wine it seems that something else might be useful to add to the menu. The waiter suggested no in Spanish and I took him at his word. I have to suggest this as a group place. It is not wheel chair accessible. There are no toilet seats in the bathrooms but there are hand towels and soap etc. Another group was here enjoying a birthday celebration. I sang happy birthday for them from Canada and they were thrilled. I place is what you make of it. I did my best.

I was told that the picarones here were some of the best in Lima. So, I stopped in for lunch. It's confusing because there are two of the same restaurants across from one another. Both hostesses kept waving for my friend and I to come in. It felt like a tug-o-war. We opted to for the one that had a well known travel rating sign on the wall. I only came to try the picarones, but my friend decided to order lunch so we shared a plate of chicken saltado. Both were good, I don't think the picarones were any better than the ones I bought from Kennedy Parque, but they were good. The saltado was also good. You can eat upstairs on the roof top. The view of the ocean is beautiful.

I have to admit I was apprehensive due to several recent reviews that were negative. I also know that sometimes solo diners are not welcome in restaurants. I even thought I would have been turned down at a restaurant by the ocean on a weekend because I was a solo customer. However, all the staff graciously accepted me and even showed me to a larger table (even though there were smaller tables available!). The beer was also sudado de pescesca. Both beer and sudado de pescado were served immediately. The sudado de pescado was very thick and even thickened. It is a little spicy, so you may need to be careful. It was so similar to the Japanese tsukemen (tsukemen) soup that I wished a ramen noodle would teleport here right now (lol). The fish meat was so large that I mistook it for chicken breast at first. The texture was soft, like steamed fish. It was totally different from chicken breast (laugh). I visited during a busy time, so by the time I left, many people were still paying their bills. So it took a little time to pay the bill. However, the male staff was always attentive and kept up the "we haven't forgotten about you" attitude, so I wasn't uncomfortable at all. One last thing: ...... why are there no toilet seats in the toilets? Being in South America I am getting better and better at squatting (LOL)

It was a bit of a dreary night in barranco when we got hungry and decided to go grab a bite to eat. We saw restaurante Javier up on the hillside and we’re recommended it by our hostel host and decided to give it a try! We ordered the Causitas de pollo as recommended by our host and also got a side salad and tequenos de queso. The portion sizes are HUGE here ! Our “side salad” had to have had at least half an avocado on it and it was humongous! We definitely could’ve only ordered one ! They have very fair prices as well! The atmosphere was wonderful. We just wish we came for the sunset or when it wasn’t rainy. Would definitely go back!

I think about a meal here often and it has been a month. If you hate lines for food not for you/ if you don’t mind the ridiculous waiting line to get be seated- fret not! You shall be rewarded in leaps and bounds. Please go! We didn’t get a sea facing table but couldn’t be bothered because our faces were getting stuffed. Huge portions (beed not worry because every bite is worth it!) Excellent carnivorous options and on par with pescatarian options-
