I highly recommend Cala Tratoria's pizza. I stopped here on a cold and rainy night. The inviting warmth of the restaurant and friendliness of the shop owners drew me in! Our party ordered a few different toppings but my favorite was the simple Margherita with Rocoto peppers added (this is a signature Peruvian pepper that you should add to your pizza if you like a touch of spice). The pizzaolo fixes your dough right in front of you - fresh and made to order. I was delightfully surprised.
The Cheese: the cheese was easily the highlight of the pizza. Queso Andena is special I don't get to have it very often on a pizza. 5/5 for cheese and the amount.
The Sauce: Honestly the most forgettable part of this pizza was the sauce. The sauce did not have a strong presence and so I can't really say much about it. 3/5.
The Toppings: Fresh and Plentiful! 4/5.
The Dough: such a great compliment to the cheese! 5/5.
I will comment again that everyone here was accommodating, friendly, and great hosts. I give this aspect a 5/5 and see myself returning when I come back to...
Read moreA great find. Good food, exceptional service.
ATMOSPHERE: The restaurant was busy with tourists and locals alike. The restaurant was warm thanks to the large clay oven in the back where you can watch the chef make your pizza. The seats are comfy. The tables are large.
FOOD: We had the margarita pizza and we decided to add sausage (chorizo). Of course, we also had to buy two bottles of Coca-Cola. We were served a fluffy garlic bread along with the pizza. I must recommend putting the two sauces that come with the bread on the pizza. If you can't handle spice, stick with the wonderfully garlicky white sauce.
SERVICE: We had a wonderful waitress named Flor, and despite the language barrier, she did her absolute best to accommodate us. We used Google translate for some words in Spanish that we didn't know, and she took it in stride. She was sweet, attentive, and earnest. The remaining staff are so helpful and quickly clear away, empty dishes. They check in on you to make sure that you are...
Read moreGreat food, service and drink specials, we came back after our first try. My wife and toddler enjoyed this place, the pizza and lemonada was brilliant. We twisted our own arm into getting on board with their two for one drinks specials and weren't disappointed. The dishes come with complimentary garlic bread and dips. The waitresses were attentive, polite and really friendly, they even entrained our attempts at training to order in Spanish with such grace. A very cool setting with a variety of seating options with either regular dining tables or comfy couches on offer. We opted for the table so our daughter could use the highchair. Prices are pretty respectable, we spent around 100 soles per visit and left feeling...
