I recently visited Maggots Grill in Machu Picchu, and the experience was fantastic. The cozy atmosphere immediately caught my attention, especially with the stunning backdrop of the mountains. I ordered a latte, which was perfectly brewed, smooth, and rich in flavor – one of the best I’ve had during my travels.
What made the visit even more memorable was the unique opportunity to play chess on an authentic Inka board provided by the cafe. It added a cultural touch that I didn’t expect but thoroughly enjoyed. Sitting there, sipping my latte while engaged in a game of strategy, felt both relaxing and immersive.
The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, always checking in to ensure everything was satisfactory. They made the environment feel welcoming and laid-back, which enhanced the overall comfort of the place.
If you’re ever in Machu Picchu and looking for a quiet, charming spot to unwind after exploring, I highly recommend Maggots Grill. Whether you want a great cup of coffee or a unique experience with local touches like the Inka chessboard, this place delivers...
Read moreI would not come back here or recommend it. I went to look at the menu after seeing good reviews on Google, but this was my most disappointing experience in Peru.
The woman outside trying to get people into the restaurant told us that we would get 2 drinks and chips with guacamole for free + 10% discount. So we ordered those two drinks and chips (as well as dinner) only to be charged full price for all of it.
The dinner - one of us ordered lamb and were served Alpaca. The other ordered a mushroom dish expecting some fresh ingredients as that had been our Peru dining experience so far and it was just canned mushrooms and potatoes with sauce.
When we asked about the drinks and chips being on the check, they made all the excuses that they would have brought us smaller portions that were free (though this was never mentioned prior to the check).
After reluctantly marking the bill down a little, the lot returned our change from the check in all 0.10 coins which felt...
Read moreNOT GLUTEN FREE!!! I have celiac disease and saw the "gluten free" sign outside their door. I went in and even before I decided to eat here, I asked twice if it was really gluten-free. I asked the waiter twice more and when the pizza arrived I also checked twice more because I was afraid as I have the most severe reactions to gluten. Each time I was assured that it was 100% gluten-free. I ate the pizza. 2 hours later the puking started. Since I am also diabetic, this situation is life-threatening for me! The sign must absolutely be removed!!! The store would do this now of their own accord, after several people have already complained about it here! By the way, my friend also found the pizza really disgusting. But I got my money back, after I complained...
