La Dulce Tía — Restaurant in Santiago

hiker-friendly, outstanding cakes and sandwiches! best coffee I've had in Peru so far. HIGHLY recommend

We were in Cabanaconde for 3 days to hike in the Colca Canyon. Every morning we would grab our lunch for the day there, sandwiches and some cake, while having a coffee. The coffee was the best coffee I've had so far in Peru. The sandwiches are freshly-made and keep you full through the day, so perfect for hikers. We did a 5h trek and each had 2 sandwiches and a piece of cake, for I think only 18soles. On the last day of hiking it was raining, so as we reached Cabanaconde again , we were seeking for a hot drink and some well-deserved cake. We arrived late, there were no people on the streets anymore and the place was already closed. So we knocked at the door and he did reopen the shop only for us.

Also, there is the possibility to get a room in his house, very cheap, with breakfast included at the bakery.

I highly recommend this place to all people who want to enjoy a really good coffee and to all hikers who are looking for a great...

You will find in this place the best sandwich in Peru with homemade bread ! Delicious cheese and dressing. You will also find an amazing variety of cakes. This is the perfect rewarding after the trekking (or before if you need energy). We took some cakes for the long journey of bus and it was perfect. Thanks to Jose and his brother !
