Biga Pizza y Pasta — Restaurant in Urubamba

Firstly, I have eaten at restaurants all over the world, and am very easy to please. Never have I left a one-star review until now. I was really excited to try this restaurant and made a reservation a few days in advance using WhatsApp. I successfully confirmed my 7PM reservation and even received two separate responses, with zero mention of a 1.5hr seating.

As soon as we sat down and got comfortable, the manager came over and told us that there was another reservation for the same table at 8:30 PM, and that we had to leave by then. He was quite rude about it.

My husband and I were really upset. Nowhere on their Instagram or in the WhatsApp communication was it mentioned that there was a time limit for our table.

We had planned to enjoy appetizers and dessert, but instead, we just had a main and left.

Don’t waste your money here.

If I could make a suggestion—go to FORTY BISTRO (it’s right beside Biga). We went the night before and had a wonderful experience. The staff was friendly, and the price for a really well-prepared beef tenderloin was actually cheaper than the pizza at Biga (beef tenderloin: 55 soles; Biga pizza: 58 soles). When we felt a bit chilly, the staff at Forty Bistro even lit a fire for us.

We felt like we were in Milan, with delicious pizza, the dough was airy and well seasoned, wonderfully balanced mushrooms with creamy buttery sauce, not overwhelming at all. The eggplant Parmesan was also the best I’ve had with a caramelization of the eggplant and cheese— fantastic. Two salads were so delicious- the romaine “Caesar-like” dressing, cut cherry tomatoes (so fresh), delicious mild shredded cheese. Wow! Another mixed greens salad had balsamic reduction dressing and nuts and prosciutto. Tiramisu— a must have with Cusco chocolate shavings atop a creamy classic dessert. A lot of these reviews are a bunch of clowns commenting to boost their sales.
