The restaurant has a simple, unassuming look, but don't let that fool you. Once you go in, you'll be treated to the scent of delicious spices and you'll immediately feel hungry.
For appetizers, we ordered roast chicken, egg 65, and pepper prawn. The roast chicken looked fried to me with its thin skin of batter, but it was so juicy and tender that the exact cooking method stopped mattering and we just appreciated the flavor. Another standout was the egg 65, also coated lightly in batter, so you bit into a crispy shell that then gave way to the creaminess of the egg. The pepper prawn was just okay when you compare it to the other two appetizers, and I would recommend that you skip it.
For our entrees, my friends and I were lucky enough to get help from the owner himself while we were trying to figure out what to order, and his recommendations were awesome. We got the mutton curry, chicken tikka, and rogan josh. The mutton curry and chicken tikka were both flavorful and probably the best I've tried so far, with the chicken tikka just slightly edging past the mutton curry because I liked its creamier flavor. But the rogan josh was my favorite of the three. The mutton in it was so tender it just melted on your tongue and the flavor of the spices was wonderfully combined with the refreshing taste of the fenugreek leaves. Since we didn't want to be overwhelmed by all the flavors, we had asked for the mild versions of the dishes, but I would definitely recommend getting the rogan josh in a spicier version because I think it would make an already great dish even better.
We also ordered some butter naan, palak paneer, and jeera rice to go with everything else, and I cannot recommend these three enough. The naan combined with the palak paneer and its solid cubes of homemade cheese is just a total treat. You could order just these two, and you'd be more than happy. Finally, I would like to preface this by saying that I'm a huge garlic rice devotee, but the jeera rice shook my faith, people. It was so light and fluffy and aromatic, and it complemented the curries so well. All in all, dining here was an experience and we can't...
Read moreNever eat here!!! We tried this place last year and had a terrible experience. The food was very bland for indian flavor and the rotis were made from flour. The Samosas were completely raw inside. It was completely inedible. The worst is they tried to charge us for food we could not eat since it was raw.
Since my fiancee lives right down the street, we pass by almost every day and tonight we were craving indian food. We decided to give this place another chance to redeem their reputation. It failed to do so.
We went there tonight to try the samosas again. When we ordered the food, we told the server about our last experience and she assured us the 'chef' would not undercook it this time. The first few bites were ok, but as soon as we get to the end of our samosas, we start to get that raw doughy taste again. I break open the second one, and sure enough, its raw on the inside. I mean, I can take the dough out and reroll it... RAW!!!! Yet again we are instantly ready to leave without ordering anything else this time. And they even tried to charge us for the RAW Samosas AGAIN!!! I cant believe they made the same mistake, even after they were warned.
*They do not know what they are doing at this restaurant. *
DO NOT EAT HERE UNLESS YOU ARE OK GETTING SICK!!!
TO THE OWNER/S
I have operated several restaurants and was the Food and Beverage Director of a Boutique Hotel. Please take my advice, get out of the food service industry if you dont plan on having quality control in your restaurant. You should not fail 2 times in a row, especially when you are warned the second time around. This is just sad and embarrassing...
Read moreTHE PLACE. It is a bit hot at first, but I felt cold after. Maybe because I drank lassi. lol But yeah, the place is clean. From the outside, you'd think this is a boring place. Because of the exterior perspective of this place, I just passed by this spot every single day for the past ten months. As they say, don't judge the book by its cover. Why?
THE FOOD. We only ordered Tomato Curry, Plain Naan, Indian Milk Tea, and Mango Lassi. OMG! They're all worth what you paid for! Maybe that was our tastebuds only. You gotta try it yourself. Been to Kuala Lumpur's Little India and tried the same food there, this place made the food better. So yeah, we'll be coming back.
THE SERVICE. It was nice that the acting manager came over our table when he saw us to guide us on what we might want to order. It was such a plus to the management.
DOWNSIDE. We waited for like 30min for an official receipt, we received none. Just a piece of scrap paper where they made the back side a receipt. That's just all, but it was fine for me coz I really didn't care much about the receipt. I was just trying to see if they are paying...
