Mismukuno Teppankyaki: A Letdown for Japanese Food Enthusiasts
Hoping to satisfy our craving for Japanese cuisine, particularly sushi, we stumbled upon Mismukuno Teppankyaki. Regrettably, what we encountered was a Japanese restaurant that seemed to have seen better days. The initial allure of the establishment didn’t quite align with the reality we experienced. The sushi offerings were restricted to salmon and tuna sashimi, a far cry from the more diverse menu they showcased. The disparity between what was promised and what was delivered left us disappointed, with only the prices reflecting a Japanese touch. Needless to say, we cannot recommend this experience.
It’s possible that our visit coincided with an off day for the restaurant. The staff’s lack of engagement was evident as they remained engrossed in their phones, even when we were right next to them, attempting to place orders or request the bill. The food, while acceptable, didn’t leave a lasting impression. My beef ramen could have been elevated with the right utensils, like a renge or soup spoon, but unfortunately, I was handed a stainless spoon instead. And, as a quirky tip, be cautious of the use of paper straws, as they can lead to an unexpectedly fizzy reaction when paired with drinks like coke. Perhaps offering drinking cups or glasses would circumvent this issue.
A particularly amusing aspect was the contrast between the food presented and its portrayal in the menu. This misalignment created a comical “expectations versus reality” situation. In light of our experience, it’s safe to say we won’t be returning to Mismukuno Teppankyaki in the...
Read moreMismukuno, a Japanese in Ayala center Teppanyaki is a style of Japanese cuisine that uses an iron griddle to cook food. But that's not all this place has to offer, Mismukuno has a wide selection of Japanese dishes like maki, sushi, sashimi, ramen, tempura etc etc. It's a little bit for everyone here if you are in to Japanese food.
Popular place I have been here a couple times before, around lunch and it has been relatively crowded every time. That must be sign for good food, right? Anyway this time I ordered the Platter special which they advertised about at the entrance. Sashimi, sushi and maki in a nice combination.
Platter special Platter special offered 9 maki rolls, 3 pieces of sushi and 6 slices of sashimi (salmon and tuna) for 510 PHP. Miso soup was not included. Everything was more than ok but a little bit less than delicious. For example the meat of the tuna was slightly too fibrous for me to be perfect.
Conclusion Mismukono Teppanyaki gave a clean and fresh impression together with a nice hardworking staff. They have lot's to offer on the menu that I would like to try. For example I am curious about their teppanyaki which should be their specialty I guess. So the conclusion is I will come back for more.

I've always been interested to try their food when they opened at AS Fortuna and heard good reviews about this japanese restaurant. Now that I got the chance to visit the place in Ayala, man their food is awesome! Their food is savory and fresh. I just love sipping their miso soup just right for my palate. Food serving is also generous. The experience that I had was fulfilling and would definitely come back to dine again.
