Luk Foo Palace at Acacia Hotel Davao — Restaurant in Davao City

The food was midrange, not bad but not spectacular. However, we didn't get a chance to try more dishes because of the slow service. Four of us came for dinner and were sat outside in the hallway even though there were ample tables open inside. Tea, water, and peanuts arrived soon after being seated. We only ordered a few items (Luk Foo fried rice, XLB, and fried shrimp balls, and watermelon drinks) for a light dinner. After much time, drinks arrived then the rice and shrimp. This is when the waitress let us know that they were out of XLB so we ordered 2 orders of shrimp dim sum (har gow). We ate slowly waiting for the 2 orders which never arrived. After finishing our food, we requested the bill and asked to cancel the orders only to learn that they had not been prepared by the kitchen yet. The first copy of the bill included the orders we didn't receive which was later corrected. We expressed our frustration, they apologized, and offered complimentary mango desserts for the table. Kind gesture but the poor service left a bitter taste.

Takeaway: I wouldn't suggest coming here during peak hours/season if you're a small party. Seems like better service is given to large parties...

There are no words to describe the experience. I’ve eaten here many times and it’s the first place I took my fiancé when we met during my last visit Shia took care of us, and I can’t emphasize enough, her thoughtfulness, professionalism, engaging, personality. From the moment we walked through the door until leaving it’s always yes and it’s always now. We had an issue with one dish that we ordered, And they wouldn’t hear of letting us not have what we wanted. They swept it up from the table, took the and within minutes are hot pot with sizzling, eggplant and diced pork with garlic was on the table.

This restaurant is a hidden GEM! I’ve lived in New York and traveled the world and never experienced food of this quality. The food is great. but the service is a key ingredient in overall experience. The caring and attention to detail defies words.

In terms of menu, Luk Foo has your traditional Chinese restaurant selection with most commonly ordered Chinese cuisine. Depth of menu should cover most expectations for Chinese dining.

Quality of food is fairly good and matches an expected mid-high price dining venue. Price point is around P300-P600 for most short orders. No particular standout dish, but overall good taste.

Venue can easily accomodate large parties and groups in multiple tables, with comfortable spacing between diners.

Amenities are appropriate to a typical higher-middle class hotel, well-polished and clean.

Parking may be an issue if booked during peak days or if an event is on-going, as is common for hotel venues. Proper reservation and going early recommended...
