Cafe Racer Diner — Restaurant in Dumaguete

While waiting for our flight back to Manila, we made the mistake of stopping by this restaurant to kill time. The service was absolutely terrible from start to finish. We ordered just a few drinks (coffee-based and fruit-based) yet even after 40 minutes, nothing had been served. No updates. Nothing.

We tried following up, but one of the waitresses deliberately avoided us; refusing to make eye contact and even turning her back as she walked past our table a few times. It was clear we were being ignored. When this waitress finally decided to approach us, she didn’t even bother to smile. She looked annoyed, irritated even. It was like she wanted to say, “Ano ba ’yun?” Very unpleasant energy from someone who’s supposed to be in customer service.

Frustrated and running out of time since we had to be in Sibulan airport in 15 minutes, we asked for the bill and requested the drinks to be packed to-go. 10 more minutes passed and still no bill. We ended up walking to the cashier ourselves—only to find out our drinks had been ready for a while, just sitting there. No one even bothered to bring them to us. Not a single staff member had the initiative or basic courtesy to serve customers properly.

While paying, we witnessed another customer, a foreigner, storm out and say, “Just to let you know, I’m leaving. I’ve been sitting here for almost 20 minutes and nobody approached me to take my order. I’m not coming back.”

It’s not just bad service—it’s complete disregard for customers. This was easily one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had anywhere, and definitely the worst in Dumaguete. If management doesn’t care enough to train or supervise their staff properly, they shouldn’t be in the...

Cafe Racer is one of the most recommendable places in the city serving a lot of Western dishes from basic to most outrageous and expensive meals the barn and sea could offer. It's a place for everybody to enjoy and unwind or probably just to dig in just to satisfy some uncontrollable damn cravings. Menus consists of many specialties and the price are ranging from this $$ to this $$$.

With the all hunger and tempting smell across their premise, we immediately dive into. The interior is very industrial looking and cozy as well with all the racer themed decorations and arrangements they have put into it. The place is wide and the way each furniture was visualized to match their theme is superb.

We ordered a lot food mostly on the $$ price range. It took 30 minutes and upwards before we can enjoy our meal so here's one tip for you: order french fries or any finger foods while waiting since they could serve it immediately upon your order. The place was packed with all the patrons which I guess a huge factor that might delay our orders most especially we arrived at the place at the peakest hour. When the food arrived on our tables, all I can say was wow because they all look incredibly amazing. The very first bite exploded with spices and juices already and it makes sense because visually it looked pretty delightful. The meals reminded of Just Sizzling in Bohol but this a step up version. The meats are well seasoned and extremely marinated up to the bones. Pricey but worth your money. Can't wait to try for more when I get back.

I went here 4 different times and it’s pretty much the same – poor service, poor quality of steaks

First time I went here, we were group of 4. It wasn’t busy at all but our food took awhile and they serve the food one by one. Ordered their 3 sampler steak and I didn’t like it. Portions are ok but taste awful to me.

Second time I went here, it was busy because of an event. We were group of 6 and like before they served the food one by one and had to watch our family eat their food while waiting for ours. Orders took so long. The couple of our group was not able to get their order after waiting more than an hour. Checked with staff and we were told they don’t have all the cheese for the cheese pizza we wanna order. Yeah thanks for the update after more than an hour. Asked the manager to cancel it and they still keep insisting that they will serve it 😆 after telling we are no longer interested and we are leaving, they still try to insist. No compensation, no sincere apology, still trying to make an excuse for their mistake.

Third time - the waiters keep ignoring us about service water. Had to follow up with them every 30 minutes.

Fourth time, group of 6 again. And again, food served one by one. Ordered their steaks & roast beef hoping it got better and I still don’t like it. Dry, no flavor to it without adding their gravy.
