I had the pleasure of trying Lantaw Restaurant's unlimited breakfast together with our regional director. Food choices are aplenty yet lacking. Menu: Highyly recommended for meat lovers. However, for those who prefer vegetables over meat, options are not that plenty. However, there are other options like budbod, pancakes, and waffles, among others. Staff: The staff was also very attentive and accommodating. Ambiance: We happen to sit on the table facing the street and the sea. However, the view is not that good since the view of the road on Flores Avenue does not have the aesthetic to make you feel relaxed. Rather, you will see a lot of vehicles passing by which will sometimes distract your view of the sea. However, the interior of the restaurant gives a cozy vibe because of the cold air coming from the air conditioning unit nearby. Overall, I highly recommend Lantaw Restaurant's unlimited breakfast for any food lover looking to start their day in Dumaguete City.

Lantaw Native Restaurant came with high expectations due to its great location, numerous reviews, and a bustling atmosphere when we arrived. Unfortunately, our experience fell short. While the portions were generous and the prices reasonable, the quality of the food was disappointing. The Kare Kare na Pata was bland, extremely watery, and left us feeling uneasy afterward. The grilled boneless Bangus, though flavorful, didn’t quite live up to expectations either. Additionally, the rice we ordered seemed old, clumped together, and was far from enjoyable. While the staff was quick to approach our table, they appeared disengaged and lacked the warmth or attentiveness you’d expect. To top it off, it took over 15 minutes just to settle our bill, which added to our frustration. Overall, while the ambiance and location are appealing, the dining experience was underwhelming, and we left feeling quite disappointed.

The initial service was … clueless. I asked them twice if the table could be wiped down as it had dirty napkins and food smeared on it. They kept placing items on the table and left without cleaning it. The waiter that mostly dealt with us after was great. Promote him and train the rest to look at tables and patrons, not ignore them. I specifically asked if the chicken halong halong was pieces of chicken meat (only meat) or chunks with mostly bones, skin, extremities. It was assured that it was just pieces of chicken meat. It was the opposite, what lazy kitchens do here. Most of the chicken pieces were bone, soft skin, and extremities with no meat. The garlic rice wasn’t very good and the chop suey wasn’t good either. The food here just is a letdown

This restaurant has poor management. When they see that the customers are poor, they don't know how to approach them. I brought my siblings here to treat them to dinner, but they said that all the tables are reserved. I told them that we are walk-ins and we don't have any reservations. They said that's okay, but then they said that we have to wait for the second batch because we are a large group. What kind of management is this? They prioritize those who have reservations over those who are already here and hungry. My siblings and I are hungry and tired of waiting. Why are you prioritizing those who have reservations over those who are already there? What kind of management is this? This is not good recommendation for friends. Poor management really. If I were to give a survey, I would give 0% because of the poor management.

"I don't understand why it's a big deal if we are a large group. Aren't you happy to have many customers? If those reserved tables are still not occupied, maybe we can use them first and let those people wait for a little bit since we are already there and ready to order? That was a really ridiculous situation today. We are not beggars who can't afford the food there. Since I brought my family there, it means I can afford to pay for the food. But sadly, we had to go to another place to have dinner since the kids are very hungry and we can't wait for the second batch. And what if they will not finish eating right away? We will become starving! Who waits for the second batch? You are not the only restaurant in town.

"Additionally, I noticed that almost all tables were vacant due to reservations. The management couldn't find a way to give us a solution so we can have dinner before the people with reservations arrived. It's frustrating to see empty tables while we are waiting to be seated. The management should prioritize accommodating customers who are already present, rather than keeping tables empty for reserved customers who may not even show...

Dreadful for the second time

I had a very bad experience at Lantaw a few years back, and decided to skip that place in the future, as it is simply overpriced local food with badly trained staff.

However, just the other day I saw their offer for breakfast buffet on weekends 7-10am. It was advertised with some nice pictures on various DB Groups. My missus convinced me to give it a try, what can possibly go wrong… We arrived there at 8.30 am and were guided in by a waitress. The first look on the buffet showed no similarities, with the pictures I saw in those FB groups. It looked somewhere between pre-chewed and bomb-explosion. Stuff just laying all over the place, unclean, dishes not cleared from tables, food on the floor. A moment later the waitress told us, that they will not restock (1.5 hours before ending), but we still can eat what is left over. The price would still be the original, though.

I looked at my missus and turned around without saying a word and left.

What was even worse than the buffet were the hygienic conditions. It was in the morning, and all appeared dirty. The staff didn’t care at all, and the owner/manager obviously also don’t give a sh… I guess the place makes enough money, so they don´t need to care about anything.

It was my second try and...

Flew in from LA and was craving Filipino food. Went to Lantaw as it is highly recommended online. We ordered the humba as highly recommended by our driver, steamed oysters, and bakes scallops. The waiter reviewed our orders, and we confirmed the usual... then the waiter told us he made a mistake and put in calamari instead of the scallops.... I felt like he wanted us to change our order, but my sister felt worried it would be deducted from the waiter's salary, we agreed to just add it to our bill....I honestly felt being budol'd somehow. The food arrived, and everything was cold. When I said COLD... even the rice is cold. Calamari is cold and on top of that they don't even come to you after flagging them and you know they saw you. The food itself is okay and flavorful but the dining experience was poor. There were lots of flies threathening to land on your food. The whole experience will not be too bad if they feel bad after we mentioned that the rice is cold but they just brushed it off and gave...
