We had the worst experience here.
In short, they did not gave us 500 pesos of change back and treated us like we were trying to steal from them. So, be careful if they ask you for a deposit.
In long, they asked us a 500 pesos deposit which is consumable at the restaurant to stay on their chairs on the beach, which I have no problem with. We gave them a 1000 pesos, so we waited for our change, but it never came.
Given that we were there all day and order a plate and drinks, we waited at the end of the day to ask for our change, which minus what we consume was around 350 pesos. It is at that moment that the waitress try to convince us that she had given us our change back during the day. We knew that we did not received anything so we argue and she told us they would look at the camera footage to prove she gave us our change.
After waiting 15 minutes, she came back with 3 other people from the staff, including a security guard and told us that they all saw on the camera that she had given us our change back. We knew we did not receive the change so we asked to see that footage and they told us they will need to call the police before showing us the footage.
As they were calling the police, I went to talk with the security guard who reveal me that there was no footage proving that she had given us our change back but only him had seen the waitress given us our change. Therefore, the whole camera footage thing was just a lie. At this point, we were not even arguing for the money given it was only 500 pesos, but for the principle as they were just lying to us.
They sent us to their manager who told us that nobody from her staff could have done a mistake and forget to gave us our change, so we had for sure received the money. We try explaining the situation but she was not cooperative, she just said she would call the police and we would have to fill long report and at the end of the day it was her words against our, and we would lose as we were just tourist. After spending a long 20 minutes just to get our change we decided that it was not worth losing more time arguing for 500 pesos.
However, they continue to argue that because we had consume for more than 500 pesos we had a balance to pay. It was just a really bad experience, so be careful if they ask you for a deposit given that this ruined our nice day at the beach.
Regarding the food it was good but expensive for what you get. The view on the...
Read moreThey are rude and try to cheat you. For starters this place does not vegetarian options except for 2 salads and mixed fruit platter.
Letâs call the salads Option A and option B.
I wanted option A but add the olives and peppers that option B has, but I did not want the fish and egg that option B comes with. See photo of menu with description and price. Then see picture of my salad
I get salad option A with peppers and olives but did not get tomatoes that is suppose to come in the salad. I was charged for option A + additional 80php Which came out to be MORE than option B but i didnât get fish or egg, not to mention there were no tomatoes.
So hereâs where things went left. I am explaining to the server my opinion on how i should not be charged more than salad option B when option B has all of what I got minus the fish and minus the egg and the lady sitting next to me with her husband gets up and comes over and YELLS at me not knowing nor understanding what was the issue and was very unprofessional and tells me âpay what you want, we donât want pep like you here, donât come back!!â âŠtaken aback I waited for the woman who was obviously the opener, to calm form so that I can be professional and de escalate the situation. *By the way she does not have to ever worry about me going back there after how I was treated and I will make sure no one i associate with goes there either. Very unprofessional and unpleasant.
*Also, you canât go in their pool. You canât even pay to go in, as I offered. There are no true âBeach Clubsâ anywhere in El Nido unlike Bali or Mexico, etc but the beach is very clear and clean. Itâs the nicest one close to El Nido Beach.
There are many other options along the Maremegmeg Beach to go to for good vibes, drinks, music and go on the beach. I will highly suggest going through the main walkway and walk along the beach and go to any of the other resto bars and not go...
Read moreI never write reviews because typically, one negative experience isn't indicative of a restaurant's typical standards. However, I want to share my experience with Maremegmeg Beach Bar to warn other customers.
I stayed at Maremegmeg Beach Club with two of my friends on March 17th, 18th and 22nd. On these days, we exclusively ate at the Beach Bar. In three days, we each got sick twice. The first time it happened, my friend could not get out of bed for over 24 hours. The second time it happened, I experienced the same. I have been traveling for several months across India and SEA, and this was the first time I've gotten sick - so I don't think the issue was simply water my stomach wasn't used to.
I emailed the Beach Club about this experience. Here is an interesting line from their response: "As you returned to the resort for a second stay, we fail to understand why the issue was not brought to our attention at that time. In fact, your group continued to consume food and beverage at the resort, and didn't seem to have any issues. Again, it is unfortunate that we were only made aware of your concerns after your departure."
This response was quite disappointing and did not reflect reality. The resort knew we got sick the first time, as they had to give us all medicine. Additionally, we already booked our second stay before getting food poisoning once - so of course we weren't going to cancel it. Furthermore, we checked out of the hotel at 5:30 AM in the morning the night of our second stay, so we had no opportunity to share the feedback with resort management in person.
TLDR: I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. It is also hard to recommend the hotel, because for the price, you should be able to feel like you have access to safe, clean restaurants and...
