This restaurant is beautifully situated up a tall tall tall tall tall hill, accessible by many many many many steep bamboo steps.
Upon arrival you are greeted by an inviting big puppy - one of the three that roam around freely, all friendly enough and they never quite get close enough to the dining tables. No issues there.
I like to judge on 3 things, the restaurant atmosphere, the quality of the food (and how I felt several hours after consuming) and the quality of the service.
Atmosphere - it’s a steep and sweaty walk up the steps. But when you get up there and remove your shoes (yes it’s a shoes off restaurant unless you work there?) it’s quite lovely. They sell some locally crafted jewellery and tapestry, and it’s quite beautiful in there actually. Atmosphere 5/5. Lots of books in there if you’re up for a quiet read, they appear to have wine on display, and the ambience is chill and sophisticated with cool tunes playing softly in the background - like bon iver.
The quality of food delivered to our table was excellent - you pay for that quality - but it was delicious. I had the eggplant and snapper curry with coconut rice. The husband had the grilled snapper in rice, and we shared an entree of shredded vegetables with cashews and some delectable sauce of mango and something a rather served over it. The only issue was everything we initially picked was “sorry sir we finiss ”. At 6.30pm they were out of chicken. They were out of the wine we picked. They were out of spring rolls. They were out of the roti that was supposed to be served with my curry. They were out of our first pick of most foods - but what came was still delicious. So for the inconvenience of it - I’ll give it a 3/5. Bloody delicious though.
Lastly for the service - while everyone was friendly, it was equally slow. Took several minutes to get menus, entrees were served half hour after we sat down and mains 3/4 hour after that. We enjoy our food, but we enjoy it quickly. We like to enter an establishment. Order. Eat it and leave. While everything was lovely, it was a little slow for us. So service 2/5.
Overall it was delicious, and while we would be unlikely to return this trip, we did eat it and the food was good but they could benefit from some faster service.
This delicious and painfully slow meal cost is 3,500peso which to be frank is expensive for what we...
Read moreThis place is extraordinary! Every spot is instagrammable! It's actually the restaurant of The Birdhouse and just like the hotel guests, one must also climb the stairs leading to this place. It was a moderate hike up the restaurant but was very tiring especially for me who didn't have exercise for a long time. I think it's still not that popular with the locals because all of the diners there were foreigners when we dined so visit it ASAP before it gets crowded.
The food, though, for me wasn't great but it's still good, I guess because it's all organic and no preservatives added and I'm not just used to it. Again it's just for me and we don't have the same set of taste buds.
Back to view, it's very breathtaking! We will surely go back here if given the chance!
We had our outdoor seats reserved days prior to our trip and the reservation officer was very accommodating even if we had erratic reservation due to unforseen events.
Thank you The Nesting Table!...

This place is located on a hill overlooking the bay, so there are quite a number of steps before you reach the restaurant. There will be inspiring signs along the way to give you a morale boost to keep climbing.
The restaurant is great, very nice touches in design. Staff are very welcoming. If you are keen, do try to make a reservation, as the spaces in the restaurant are limited and tend to be booked up. Even though we were walk in customers, they were accommodating to us and let us sit on a balcony to wait for a vacant table.
The food was very good (we recommend the pork chop). The owner greeted us and was very friendly. It is a good...
