Las Barricas Siargao — Restaurant in General Luna

My visit to Las Barricas was made all the more pleasant when having Aki as my server. He was very kind and attentive and made sure that me and other guests were well looked after.

Many restaurants I’ve visited in the Philippines have the unfortunate case of servers “trying to avoid you”. I’ve encountered many times where servers would try to avoid looking in your direction or you would see them talking to their workmates or sneaking a look at their phones.

The quality of service is evident at Las Barricas when you see the servers, especially the excellent Aki, scanning the crowd and maintaining eye contact, making sure anyone who needed something would be served immediately.

Kudos to the owner, who was also very friendly and had done a good job at making sure the service, ambience, and food was a positive experience.

Though their menu is a bit limited (I hope they find a way to add more options, particularly vegan/vegetarian and gluten-free options) — however despite the small menu, you are delivered a wonderful culinary experience.

The next time I’m in Siargao, I look forward to coming back and trying more...

I spend 8 days and 7 nights on Siargao and had the opportunity to frequent all top rated restaurants. Las Barricas IS SIMPLY THE BEST!!! Not only was the food deliciously fantastic, the service provided by Summer was beyond excellent. All her recommendations were on point and she was able to articulate and describe each dish with flair without pause. Needless to say, I just went with all her recommendations.

As you can see from one of the pictures I attached, even the owners of Siargao Hawker (which I rate 2nd best restaurant in Siargao) are in agreement with me that Las Barricas is number 1! Thats why we chose to have dinner there.

As my airbnb was quite a distance away in Barangay Santa Fe, I decided that it would be unwise to consume a liquor/beer/sangria. I just wanted coffee but that was not served in Las Barricas. Summer of course went out her way to get me coffee from another cafe. Thanks dear!

I will give this restaurant 5 stars because of the amazing food and friendly staff. But there is some room for improvement.

Pro: Amazing tacos - the beef one was so tasty. Fish tacos fresh. The pork stew for mains was good comfort food. Friendly and smiling staff. Owner really going out of his way to make everyone seated and comfortable Complimentary olives and reassurance while waiting for our food

Cons This restaurant is very popular, so people also got seated on the second floor. I think this overloaded the kitchen with work. We waited 50 minutes for the food. When seated on second floor we felt a bit “forgotten”. No one asked us for water/more drinks etc Staff was overworked

Maybe next time tell people it’s full and make them wait for a table, so that the kitchen has the capacity to make the food ordered in time and the waiters the capacity to follow up all the customers.

But overall definitely coming back for the food and for the good...
