A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Siargao – Perfect for Families
I stayed at Katig Beachfront Boutique Hotel for a week with my son, and it was easily one of the best travel experiences we’ve had. This charming boutique hotel has only 11 rooms, which gives it a peaceful, exclusive feel — yet it’s located right in the center of General Luna. Despite the central location, the hotel is impressively quiet, allowing us to truly relax and enjoy island life.
The rooms are spacious, the bathrooms even more so, and both are thoughtfully designed for comfort. What’s amazing is that the rates are more affordable than neighboring beachfront properties, but the quality is just as good — if not better. You get a white sand beachfront location at a great value.
From the beginning, the staff was incredibly responsive to all my questions before our arrival. During our stay, they were consistently friendly, accommodating, and always ready to help. The personal touch really made a difference.
Breakfast was another highlight. The room rate includes breakfast, and with more than 10 different meal options, we never had the same thing twice over our 7-night stay. Each breakfast was delicious and freshly prepared.
As a burger lover, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of their in-house menu — the Cloud 9 Burger is hands-down the best burger on the island. I highly recommend trying it!
The hotel is also walking distance to some of the best-rated restaurants in Siargao like Kanin Baboy, Las Barricas, and Extension Bar — all worth checking out.
Another charming feature is their book nook on the second floor, with a great collection of books you can enjoy while sunbathing or lounging in the reading area. It’s those little thoughtful touches that make this place stand out.
Whether you’re traveling solo, as a couple, or with kids, Katig Beachfront Boutique Hotel is the perfect spot to experience the beauty and laid-back vibe of Siargao. Highly...
Read moreWell this review is actually before they even launched ! I was fortunate to stay even before they launched the soft opening.
I was able to experience the balcony rooms on the 2nd floor . The best view for your money! I actually leave the balcony door open with the view of the ocean so when I wake up I can see the ocean and hear the people kite boarding and kite surfing.
Once they launch this boutique hotel it is simply paradise due to the balcony rooms overlooking the ocean and sunrise ! I meditate every morning to welcome the sun ,sand and sea !
The rooms & Bathrooms are spacious ! the beds are just my type —- firm and extremely comfortable .
They’ve got great internet (240mbps PLDT) and I believe they are installing Starlink as well. I was able to broadcast my radio program facing the ocean !
They also have a great co working space on the 2nd floor which is super cozy and comfortable with lots of space and books!
What’s convenient is the location to breakfast lunch and dinner restos in the heart of GL. Everything is 5-15mins walk along tourism road. You have Las Barricas , Kanin Baboy, Also the Extension (live bands playing - alternative / jazz / Top40 / 80s). Also if you wanna party all the bars are 10-15mins walk !!
The great thing is it’s super quiet since no cars pass through this area since it’s deep into the street with a beachfront !
You’ll love the host Sir Jerry and Sir Kim who are a lovely couple.

Room was ok for the nightly rate, considering local standards. Not much in terms of decoration, choosing instead for the minimalist industrial vibe. All good because most of the basics were met. Smart TV and WIFI available. Bathroom and shower functional. Room was overall spotlessly clean & fresh. No kettle provided but there's a hot/cold water dispenser available in the resto. Bed was not comfortable at all, hard foam mattress no topping with an awful frame sticking out by the feet.
Despite all that, the place isn't bad but my main problem was with the very inconsiderate neighbors who decided to have a loud group drinking session until 3am. Although the doors were double-paned glass, sound penetrated thru making uninterrupted sleep impossible. We're with a kid so we were looking for a family-friendly vibe, not a community party scene. While not necessarily Katig's fault, my sleepless night experience wasnt great at all. Cut our planned 5 day stay here short and after breakfast immediately booked the remainder of our trip at Siargao Island Villas to find some peace & tranquility. You'll pay more but you'll get the comfort...
