If you are looking for a great, fast and undiscriminated service, PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL. I would even give negative stars to this hotel if I can when it comes to service. We've had such a bad experience while staying here. Just a brief history, we are a family from Canada (originally from Surigao) vacationing in the Philippines after almost 8 years of being away from our hometown. We were touring the island with our extended family for 5 days and stayed in GL for 3 days & 2 nights. We chose RBV because upon checking their website we were impressed; the rooms were booked months ahead. We were a big group of around 20 people; we rented 4 rooms and paid extra as per head count and stayed 2 nights in April. On our first night, we decided to host an exclusive event where we dined near the pool area. The set-up was great, the food was just OK. We had some left-overs from our dinner that we decided to keep and planned to consume it on the next day during lunch. We told the staff about this, and they agreed. ||The following day during breakfast, our group entered the breakfast area only to find that the food was insufficient. We have to wait 30 minutes for them to replenish the buffet. I understand that we are a big group but the staff should know about the number of people since we paid at check-in time for each person staying in the hotel. They should have been expecting a large number of guests eating breakfast at that time. NO APOLOGIES, NO MANAGER TO TALK TO. ||Next incident - at lunch time. As planned, we brought our dinner left-overs with us for lunch. Prior to lunch time, I've approached one of the staff saying this was our plan, we've asked permission from night staff and that we will still order more food from the menu. They agreed. There were only around 10 of us dining for lunch at that time, so we gave them the food from yesterday so they can put them in serving plates. The server there, his name is ADRIAN, was the worst server I've ever encountered! He kept ignoring us and NEVER even brought us water, gave the menu, put plates on our table, take our drink orders. He was just keep going around and around the small restaurant area acting as if we were not there! But then a group of "white" guests came in, the servers perked up and immediately have them seated, gave them a bottle of water and the menu! All that time, we were there already seated for 30 minutes with nothing on our table, NO drinks, NO menu, NO food!!! At this point I was really, really frustrated and angry. SO I approached the other servers and told them to attend to us. It took 1 hour until we were able to eat our lunch there. IT WAS A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE just because we are Filipinos vacationing locally. I guess the other reason they mistreated us like that because we bought left-overs from last night which I am not ashamed of, I don't want to put food to waste - the food that we paid for and are coming from the same restaurant. Regardless, we are still paying, in-house guests that have paid for our stay in FULL and have no problem paying for our food. AGAIN, NO APOLOGIES, NO MANAGER TO TALK TO! This discriminative practice is very rampant around the island. They worship the AFAMs as gods! What a shame! ||The employees of RBV have made the beauty of this place into trash. I would never ever stay here again, nor will I recommend this place to anybody else. I am sure there are tons of other accommodations around GL that would give a much better service than theirs! Read moreI am a frequent traveller (about 5 months per year since many years) and i have not stay in a resorts which was not worth the money at all.
ROMANTIC BEACH VILLAS, SIARGAO is the first !!!! It is as bad as it can be.
They promote 24h reception but they dont have. Rooms are not worth the money. They need renovation. Furniture including beds are very old and not up to date. There is a table in the room but no chair. Bathrooms need to be total renovated. Water pressure is low and after a shower the bathrom is flooded. The water does not flow away. It stinks in the bathroom.
Restaurant only open till 8pm. Bar is open only till 10pm. They offer pizza but you need to wait like 50 to 60 minites as they do not preheat their oven. WIFI very slow.
Most disapointing is that the resort does not have a inhouse scuba dive shop as mentioned on their website. I came here for diving and could not. Waste of 1 week of my vacations. Owner/manager not on the spot. I emailed about this issue but the answer i got was a joke, very rude and unpolite.
Even at the reception i was told that the resort stopped their diving operations almost 2 years ago. In my country this would be a legal offence of fraud.
I cannot imagine what should be "romantic" in this place.

The staff is friendly and the only treasure of this place.
I could never recommend such a place to anybody without lying.
End of the day ROMANTIC BEACH VILLAS is a "NEVER COME BACK AGAIN RESORT"
Fellow travellers please read the answer of the owner properly. The owner is lying all over the places. The resort did not cancel diving due to weather conditions. They stopped their diving operations almost 2 years ago. The conditions for diving would have been ok. They changed the webpage just a few days ago. Suddenly there is no inhouse dive shop and diving on the site. For me that change came much too late. As you can see on his comments he is always blaming others for him messing up.
