When I saw the prices of the offerings on the menu, I was mildly surprised that everything's more expensive than Café BOM and Here Cafe, which are a few walking distances from here. I had great experience doing my online work at both cafés so, naturally I had higher expectations for VG Café.
Sadly, I was met with 3 disappointments:
No WiFi. Upon entering the premises, I immediately told the staff that I would be working, and they told me that WiFi wasn't available but that they had raised this concern with the management. Mobile data wasn't very strong in the area, either.
The price did not reflect the taste. I tried the recommended drink hot VG Chocolate and the Salmon Salad. While the salad was good, the serving was small. It was almost 400 pesos. The large VG chocolate was 250 pesos and yet tasted like McDonald's hot chocolate (maybe it was a bad batch?)
They didn't accept card payments. Thankfully, I had cash in my wallet, which was a rarity for me nowadays. I was really surprised and mildly irritated that they didn't have a card option considering the high premium they put in their branding. The staff told me their terminals were destroyed when they re-opened their store. When I asked when did they re-open, it turns out it was more than a month ago. I just thought that that length of time not fixing such a key part of the dining experience was unforgiveable.
Bonus: When I used their CR, they had a bidet, BUT it had no handle, so you can not push it, making it practically unusable.
All these small but basic logistical concerns made no sense to me, especially when...
Read moreI chose the place Bec tom& Tom's was kinda full, and this place didn't have any customer. (Wrong move)
Dining area temp, warm-ish
Food : spaghetti+burger steak+nuggets+fries ° fries too salty, u know it's too much when your salivating from the salt ° steak & spag nothing special ° nuggets served warm and crunchy yet moist
Cheese bread was too sweet (didn't finish)
Company policy: won't accept pwd i.d. w/o physical i.d. I asked even if the i.d. is direct from the q.c. government website, and they allowed it (+++ point)... Then they asked for another government I.d.(---points), at this point, I just wanted to leave and i waived the discount. (((Digital copy is ok with Starbucks, fastfoods, tgp, Jamba but the law is vague on "presentation of the i.d" especially during and post covid)))
Did not leave usual 15-20% tip which was inappropriate of me bec it's not the waiter's fault-- but I'll drop by this wk for my tip :)
Overall food experience unpleasant. Staff was nice though
I don't even know how much the bill was. I just tapped my card onto the...
Read moreI recently visited VG Bakery & Bistro in Clark, and it was a fantastic experience! The ambiance is warm and inviting, with a modern yet cozy interior. The wooden furniture, soft lighting, and spacious seating create a relaxing atmosphere—perfect for a quiet breakfast or a casual catch-up with friends.
I ordered a silog-style meal featuring garlic rice, perfectly cooked sunny-side-up eggs, and a flavorful serving of beef tapa. The meat was tender, well-marinated, and had just the right balance of sweetness and savoriness. The fresh cucumber and tomato slices on the side added a refreshing touch, while the dipping sauce elevated the flavors.
To complement the meal, I had salted caramel latte, which was beautifully crafted with latte art. The coffee had a smooth, rich taste—just what I needed to start the day right!
Overall, VG Bakery & Bistro is a gem in Clark. Whether you’re craving a hearty Filipino breakfast or just looking for a good cup of coffee in a stylish setting, this place won’t disappoint. I’d...
