The service as usual. We entered and quickly placed our order and proceeded to wait. As we waited we watched 3 different families walk in and place their orders.
And oddly received thier orders before ours which makes absolutely no sense and was extremely frustrating. The rice that came with the tan tan set was an overcooked glob. The tempura was average. The spicy salmon salad was actually pretty delicious.
The tan tan which is supposed to be their best seller wasn't really worth it. It was bland and needed additional spices from the table to even make it edible.
I only happened to stumble on this place due to our previous restaurant being closed on Sundays.. Definitely won't be revisiting and the service needs to be fixed immediately.. you should get your orders based on when they were placed. People shouldn't be jumping the queue forcing people to wait. That's ridiculous.
Edit: dropping to 1 star, asked to bill out and still proceeds to prioritize others who billed out after us. Meanwhile we're trying to pay and leave. Also the guy dropped our food to go while playing around, extremely unprofessional.
I honestly don't understand why this place is...
Read moreI can only describe our first experience of ‘TENYA’ as ‘GRABE’ [awful]. We should have been wary because the restaurant was nearly empty. We assumed because it was approximately 3pm. Nothing on our table for four was cooked properly or looked like the photos in the Menu. We suspected old cooking oil was used because nothing was crispy [Malutong]. There was a distinct tastelessness in what was put in front of us. I should have been wary when they said there was a shortage of Black Buns. Everything that should have been crispy was not. My advice to the restaurant management [as I don’t see the point of complaint without suggested improvements] is to have someone who IS Japanese physically in charge, who can raise standards before this establishment goes the way of ‘Shitamachi’, in Paranaque, which has now closed down. Both establishments resulted in giving me awful diarrhea. My advice is, obviously, to give ‘TENYA’ a wide berth, if you value your gastric health, until they show customers that professionals are in charge. Sadly, based on the reaction when we stated our criticisms to a male member of staff, I doubt that...
Read moreI visited this branch on a Sunday at noon, and it was quite busy with around 30 guests where all tables are ordering at the same time. I noticed they had about 9 to 10 staff working, and only 2 were attending to customers. The rest were helping out in the kitchen. The manager himself was also juggling between dispatching food and handling cashier duties.
Some staff like this one comes in late (probably her schedule) and just taking her sweet time while the others were rushing. This led to some service and quality issues like tables getting their orders out of turn, wrong orders, long waits, less than quality food, among others.
I commend the staff for their best effort but I’m giving them a 1-star because what really bothered me was the hygiene. There were a lot of flies in the restaurant, which to me is unacceptable. They should take steps in preventing this. This raises concerns about their cleanliness standards. I hope that someone from management reads this and takes action because I’d like to keep patronizing...
