Excelente Ham is a legendary Chinese cooked ham from the Philippines, famous for its sweet, smoky, and savory flavor profile A beloved tradition during the Christmas season and other special occasions, it has been a staple for many Filipino families for generations. History and characteristics Established since 1963: The brand has been a long-standing institution, operating from its original and sole store at 155-157 Carlos Palanca Street (formerly Echague) in Quiapo, Manila. Family-run tradition: The ham is made from a family recipe that has been passed down through generations, contributing to its authentic and consistent quality. Signature flavor: The Chinese-style ham is known for its distinct sweet outer crust and tender, slightly salty meat. It is traditionally served with a special glazed sauce. Products and availability While the full range of products may vary, the brand's offerings typically include: Whole Hams: Available in both bone-in and deboned varieties. Sliced Ham: Pre-sliced portions, often sold with a mixed or separate syrup. Scrap Ham: Considered a secret treat among long-time customers, this product consists of flavorful trimmings sold at a more affordable price. Sweet Bacon: A sweet, Chinese-style cured bacon is also part of their product line. Seasonal rush: Long lines are a common sight at their Quiapo store, especially during the Noche Buena (Christmas Eve) season, as customers queue up for this holiday centerpiece. Online and Reseller Options: The company now offers online ordering and has authorized resellers and distributors for more convenient...

Been buying their whole ham for several years now, keeping the tradition of serving it every Christmas and New Year eve. It can be kept in the freezer for 3 months. The taste is better than those made by purefoods, CDO, King Sue, etc... You have options of buying them sliced instead of whole as well, 'bathed' in sauce or sauce separate, and you can also buy them by the kilos, so it is budget-friendly. They also sell bacon (smoked or sweet), pear ham, ham trimmings, sausages, etc... Come early (7:30 am they're already open) as lines can become very long. They've regulated entry so it doesn't get crowded inside but queues can become kilometric as Christmas nears. There are 2 stores selling same products nearby the primary store (siblings?) but the other brand is called Emperor but the store guards say it is the same excellente ham without the queue. The 'boxers' have become more bold as they're now brazenly greeting you "merry xmas" (meaning namamasko po) while boxing your ham, and I find it offputting. One heeled and 'postura' lady clearly told them off: "wala...

For the first time i am writing this just to let the owner know i was a bit disappointed with your staff. I have been buying ham for more the 30 yrs. Every time i am buying i have to commute because it is very inconvenience to park at your place. I buy 2 kg. Ham worth 3.6k . So i ask where they put the ham, they answer they put it in cartoons box. So i suggest to her just to put it in plastic bag to lessen your store expenses. So i pay and after i received my changes. I saw the sando bag she gave me is not that strong for 2 kgs ham considering tat i have to commute. So i ask her for an extra sando bag , she refused to give me one. So I am asking the owner if this kind of behaviour was an instruction from you. To considered i buy 2 ham and save you 2 cartoon box just to ask a little favor for 1 plastic sando bag.... To prove to you i...

Very easy to go to from Carriedo LRT station. Only a 5 minute walk. The inside was systematic but cramped and crowded. Understandably because their cured meats are really famous. No thanks to the pandemic and inflation, prices skyrocketed, though. I suggest that they improve the layout of the actual store. Make the space bigger...or expand vertically. I hope they have boxes and stickers with the Excelente logo for small orders that do not have labeled plastic bags and boxes. Will go back multiple times in the future!
