It was my first time going to chinese places in Manila. It seems like we're tripping down memory lane. One of the places we chose to eat at was Wai Ying fast food in Benavidez.
The spot was I think small but it accommodates as much customers as it could. I remember hearing one of the customers saying that they are a pack of 22 persons and Wai Ying ok'd and were able to accommodate them. I didnt actually like that their kitchen area is located at an exposed part of the resto so its not really a good view, and it was even separated into 3 stations I think, but I understand that maybe it has been like that eversince. Crew and staff are friendly and gives you warm smiles everytime you make eye contact with them and all of them are really trained to be accommodating. The manang crew there even answered most of our questions as to what kind of food is in the menu. Its a plus for me that one is knowledgeable about what they sell.
As expected, the food are expensive, but it compensates the chinese food feel. We ordered Hakaw, roasted duck and fried rice, some other dumplings, noodles and some signature drinks. I was happy about the roasted duck and asado fried rice because the serving was generous and I was not even able to finish it off entirely.

Another time, I asked for extra rice when I was almost done with my first serving. I reminded them again after I finished my rice, but they never brought it. I had to eat the remaining dishes without rice. My companions had also finished eating by then.
When I asked for the check, the service crew had the audacity to ask me if I still wanted the extra rice.
It seemed like they deliberately ignored my request and waited until I had no use for it. Then they mockingly offered it to me.
What kind of...
Read moreSince I already ate in the main branch and had my review on the food they offer. My feedback on this branch is the following:
Lack of cell phone signal in the first floor inner section.
Some tables are not properly cleaned, like there were still some bits of rice and some used chop sticks were lying on the floor. Talk about the safety of your toddlers if they got hold of one of those.
Some food items on the menu are not available, this is so common in the many Chinese restaurants in Binondo-Santa Cruz so be prepared to pick other options aside from the planned and best seller ones.
And finally, yes inflation in the Philippines had its effect on Wai Ying as well. Your bill now may be higher compared to your visit like 6 or...
