It was our first time to eat at kanto freestyle in marikina, a resto known to operate 24/7, serving breakfast all day! We arrived around 5 30pm and lucky to have a parking slot available. As we enter the store, we immediately got a homey vibe, there was a small fountain at the gate then there were around 4 to 5 tents with table located outside of the main resto hall, then several tables are situated in a covered area. We prefered to be seated in one of the tents. Then grazing my eyes upward, i saw grapevines covering the pathway of the resto, it was indeed a new sight for me. We ordered their famous new zealand beef tapa for my husband, crispy belly for my son, danggit for me (vigan longganisa sadly was not available at that time. The beef tapa if i may say was heavenly. Im not a tapa person but i loved it. The danggit, well, tastes like danggit haha but dont get me wrong, i enjoyed my food because the serving size was generous. My son also loved his crispy belly. All our orders (except for the belly) came with garlic rice and 2 servings of egg, freestyle, meaning you can choose whatever you want to with the eggs, i had mine well done sunny side up then hubby had his just boiled. Other egg preparations are poached scrambled and another one which i cannot remember. Then for dessert (haha) i ordered their chocnut champorado with tuyo flakes, which i can say was sooo good! Then hubby ordered the peanut butter and banana pancake, i gave kanto 4 stars because of this one, we are somehow disappointed with the pancakes because it was not fluffy and soft as we expected, could have been perfect if not for this. Our serving lady, Princess, was so courteous and accommodating. After devouring all these, we ordered 2 cups of kapeng barako, which was so good by the way, then my son had scramble (pink colored ice with powedered klim on top) but wasnt able to finish it. As a wais mom, i tried to finish it up but when i tasted it, it tastes like the antibiotic amoxicillin, so stopped drinking it (the ice melted already) For all of that, including by the way 2 cans of soda, we shelled out 890 php, not bad for everything we ate! Verdict: will definitely be back!

Here's an updated review of their Marikina branch. We loved our experience this time, except for a couple at a table behind us who asked to turn the AC off. Not the restaurant's fault but they could have moved the couple somewhere else if they didn't want to deal with some water drops from condensation that wasn't even hitting them, just the table they weren't using. We were left to deal with the heat. What we ordered: Crispy Pork Belly, extra eggs and a la carte Vigan Longganisa. Daing na Bangus. Mixed berry pancakes. Upside: they seem fully staffed so there was an okay wait time for the amount of people in the restaurant. The same guy at the cashier was much kinder and so much chill now. The waiter proactively served ice water when we were seated and didn't wait for us to ask for them. Loved that. The place looks cleaner, more organized, and the lush vines on the trellis makes for a cozy al fresco/outdoor seating area. GCash available. Downside: wish there were more tables/seats in the air-conditioned area. Do we recommend this place? Yes. Are we going back? Yes.

Wednesday morning, there were some customers before us but its quite manageable. The crew were friendly and polite. A lot of soldout items - was looking forward to try their ube champorado but the malagkit rice used to make the dish is out of stock. We had Crispy Pork Belly, Pancakes with bacon and eggs, and then freestyled bacon, spam, eggs and garlic rice. The Crispy Pork Belly was truly crispy, to the point that it almost became pork floss. It was so dry, though they did not say that it was "crispy and juicy pork belly". It seems that they boil it prior to deep frying. The pancakes seems to be their own mix / recipe. It was tough, not fluffy. Seems like old flour was used or it was overmixed thus the tough outcome. The staff were truly nice, they served scrambled instead of sunny side up on one of our orders, and when we brought it up they immediately replaced the eggs. Its a nice place to get silog meals... Stay away from the tough pancakes. Will return and hopefully champorado is available by then.

We’ve been loyal customers of this branch.

Earlier’s visit was disappointing though. It’s a given that a lot of their menu items gets to be sold out. We ordered NZ Tapa + Iced Caramel Machiatto for two.

Cashier guy can improve. Maybe he’s new as he’s a bit slower and not that attentive. I was itemizing my order when a colleague of his passed by him and he started talking to him instead (so he missed what type of egg we wanted and what drinks we’re getting)

Our orders came. We asked for vinegar. The crew said that they don’t have any. While he was apologetic, I wish they could have notified customers ordering “silogs” in advance that they don’t have vinegar because tapa, tocino, bangus are best paired with vinegar. Secondly, they could have gotten plain vinegar to somehow match the silogs.

We tried appeasing our expectations saying buti na lang malasa yung tapa or madaming sauce yung tapa, and the egg was cooked to our malasado-liking.

We were parked properly. Another customer came in to dine and parked behind our car (yung medyo nasa kalsada na sya). It took us almost 10 mins to leave because the guard seems too hesitant to approach the driver who was eating. Kumakain pa daw kasi. So we asked him, maghihintay ba kami hanggang matapos sila kumain? After much asking, he went ahead and approached the customer again. Mukhang nahiya lang sya magsabi and it’s not as if the customer refused to move his car. If the guard is weak-hearted for these scenarios, he could have asked the driver to park elsewhere para walang naaabala. I think they have another guard before who was more helpful and proactive.

All of these happened earlier -...

My actual rating for the place is 4.5 stars. We went there for breakfast at around 9am. Al fresco dining available; a guided canopy is made by the plants. One cannot help but be surprised at the price range of the food. For a 24 hour restaurant serving a variety of dishes, I would say that the value for money of the food is worth it. We ordered the following:

1 serving of pandesal with pesto butter, cheese pimiento, and kesong puti 1 mixed berries pancakes 1 Honey Garlic Chicken 1 pancakes with Bacon and Eggs 1 hashbrown with poached eggs 1 Iced Karamel Macchiato 1 Hot Choco

The food and drinks have their own ups and downs; it would be such a lengthy review if I share them here.

This is a pay as your order branch. There were only approximately 3 servers which includes the cashier already. There were relatively numerous customers in this branch, and I can definitely notice how undermanned the staff are. Perhaps this is where the management can look into/improve. Service was not slow, it was just that the fast pace of orders coming and going affect the ability of servers to concentrate and fetch dishes from the kitchen. Our orders came at the usual range of 15-20 minutes. Overall, this is a good restaurant. We will definitely come back here but for...
