Food selection and quality is bad, baby roaches everywhere, staff are overwhelmed and not attentive. Interior is nice for taking pictures at least.
I've been too busy to write reviews, but I have to make an exception for this place. I saw this on my way to Ramen Nagi and decided to take my family here instead because we are avid fans of Hotpot (you can checkout my other reviews to see more).
It was one of the biggest mistakes I've ever committed. Long story short, the place offered very little. Not just to set it apart, they really just didn't have much to offer. Besides strips of chicken, beef, and pork, they offered perhaps 2 kinds of mushroom and veg, 3 kinds of noodles, bean sprouts, fish ball and fish tofu, and corn and potatoes. If you can enumerate everything a buffet has to offer you know it's not going to end well.
Food quality is sub-par. Broth was soulless. I can give you a better hot pot experience with the contents of my fridge.
Worst of all, we had to transfer tables. i killed over 6 baby roaches until I had enough and transferred. By the time I was on my way out of Suki-Ya I saw that the roach infested table given to another group of guests. This is just alarming in so many ways.
Cherry on top of this horrendous experience is their soft serve ice cream. I love my soft serve. There's really no way to F that up either. Or that's what I thought until I had their soft serve. Not only was the ice cream always close to melting point after dispensing, it also tasted nothing like what soft serve or vanilla ice cream should. It was just cold slush of lard. You can feel the fat on your lips while you eat the ice cream.
Overall, the place was built to look pretty. They cut all the corners they can to get their ROI on the decor. It's just sad to see that they're robbing people blind. With the price of 520php (weekend) + 75php for beef and pork and +80 for drinks, I wonder if the owners have even tried their own...
Read moreSuki-Ya Japanese Shabu Shabu Resto offers a delightful dining experience that combines mouthwatering dishes with a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant's ambience is calm and relaxing, enhanced by warm lighting and comfortable seating arrangements. The subtle Japanese-inspired decor adds to the overall charm of the place. The star attraction at Suki-Ya is, of course, their shabu shabu. The concept of cooking your own food in a hot pot right at your table is not only interactive but also allows you to customize your meal to your liking. The restaurant offers a selection of quality ingredients, including thinly sliced meat, fresh vegetables, and an array seafood balls. A graphic instruction mat combined with attentive and helpful staff will guide you through the cooking process if you're unfamiliar or first timer with shabu shabu. One highlight of our visit was the two kinds of broths available at Suki-Ya. both of which were rich in flavor. The color white broth was slightly sweet, while the dark broth had a miso like taste.
In conclusion, Suki-Ya Japanese Shabu Shabu Resto impresses with its delicious cuisine, nice ambiance. Whether you are a seasoned shabu shabu enthusiast or trying it for the first time, Suki-Ya promises an unforgettable dining experience that will leave you satisfied and...
Read moreI’m gonna make this a quick review
The meats were good and somewhat fresh, and were cut into thin delectable slices great for hotpot. Just the way it should be. The sides (complementary ingredients) for the hotpot were mid, nothing too special. The drinks were okay, too; I liked the lychee one. But the ice box was pretty darn small, and they were pretty slow to refill the ice. So mind that if you’re going here.
The service was pretty standard, although some of the staff did not look courteous. But okay, whatever.
The atmosphere was below average. It felt like a crammed school cafeteria, if I’m being honest.
The price was pretty reasonable but we expected more good side ingredients, but they lacked on that.
Now, I’m not sure why this place has over four star rating, maybe those who reviewed it only had their hotpot for the first time? Well, we all have our own preferences. To me it’s not even close to 4-star.
Overall, an average...
