I'm a local, and I booked at Wanderlust B&B because there was a massive blackout in our city. I had a lot of work to do, which is why I needed a stable internet connection, good cell service, and a place where I could work comfortably. I had eaten several times in their restaurant/café before, so I figured the place would be perfect for an overnight stay. But boy, was I wrong.
Upon booking through Agoda, I chose a SUPERIOR DELUXE DOUBLE ROOM, thinking it was suitable for two people. I didn't hesitate and booked it right away. But upon checking in, the concierge told me that I had only booked the SUPERIOR DELUXE DOUBLE ROOM for one person. I was shocked that this option even existed. I checked my booking again, and yes, I realized it was my fault for not noticing that I needed to specify two persons. This part, I admit, was my mistake.
But here's the crazy part. I paid around 1,600 pesos for the room, but to check in with my partner, I had to cover a total of 3,500 pesos for the actual room. So, they deducted my initial payment of 1,600 pesos from the 3,500 pesos, meaning I had to pay an additional 1,900 pesos. Technically, an extra person cost me a lot more than what I originally booked. I kept telling myself, "This is nice. This is really nice."
Later, at dinner, we ordered through a food delivery app. When the rider arrived at the hotel lobby, one of the staff approached me and said that food is not allowed inside the room. I was like, "What?" I collected myself and didn't make a scene, but I told them they should have informed me about this upon check-in. I have photos of all their posted "House Rules," but none of them state that food is not allowed inside the room. I kept my cool and told them I'd get my partner, and we’d eat in the lobby. So, I left the food in the lobby and headed back to our room, but two of the staff came up and told me they had asked their "Ma'am" about the food, and she allowed us to bring it to our room.
I’m wondering, the room I booked actually has a table and two chairs inside. Now, what is the purpose of that? They even provided instant coffee and tea with teacups. I can't understand the reasoning behind this "No food allowed inside the room" rule, especially since they didn't inform me about this before check-in and only told me when I got my food. I think this policy is really absurd, especially considering this is a Bed & Breakfast.
Let's talk about the CR/Shower. When I booked through AGODA, it was CLEARLY STATED that the SUPERIOR DELUXE DOUBLE ROOM had a SHOWER and BATHTUB, whereas the other rooms only had a shower (I have screenshots, and you can check it yourself on Agoda). I think this is misleading and should be corrected immediately.
The CR only had two toothbrushes with toothpaste and a refillable pump bottle labeled shampoo. The CR didn’t have soap. There is also no Hot & Cold Shower.
The Wi-Fi is stable and fast, no complaints there. BUT!!! THERE'S NO FREAKING CELLULAR SIGNAL. I'm using both Globe and Smart SIMs, and during my entire stay, I only get one bar of signal if I put my phone near the window.
The breakfast is not worth it considering the price I paid, 3,500 pesos. The portion of the viand is not enough to fill your stomach, I’m not gonna lie.
TL;DR: If you’re a tourist just looking for a place to sleep after your day tours, I think this place would be perfect for you. The location is great, easily accessible, and near restaurants in the city proper.
But if you’re a local just looking for a place to rest, you could do better. Don't book your stay here; you'll stress yourself out staying here. If you have your own car, the parking here...

Read moreMost of the staff were lovely and kind, however one (who I assume was the manager) had an obvious sexist agenda. Despite the room being booked under my name and paid for by me, she only spoke with my boyfriend and addressed him when speaking. All of the details of the hotel were given to him when showing us around. Anytime I asked a question, she would respond to him. This was frustrating for me as I don’t know why some women are sexist to their own gender.
The worst part was after we checked out we had to sign a form. My name was written at the top of the paper… but she gave it to my boyfriend and asked him to sign. He then handed it to me and she seemed annoyed about this.
I have only ever been kind and polite, and definitely not deserving of being ignored.
During breakfast, there was only one song playing. It was on such high volume that we had to raise our voices to speak together. The song was all about praising Jesus, so we felt we probably had our answer for the sexism… We felt like we knew all the words after 30 minutes of listening to it over and over. I can still remember it very clearly. Once again, all food handed to my boyfriend first, ‘enjoy your meal sir’. At this point it was just funny to us.
Furthermore, it was the only hotel that we stayed in (after a month travelling in the Philippines) that charged us more for checking in early, despite the room already being ready. I am happy we only booked one night.
This was just our experience with one member of staff there. Everybody else seemed lovely and helpful - thank you to the kind girl who let me borrow her...
