Cabalen Restaurant — Restaurant in Quezon City

this exp is based on our private event held here west ave. we still recommend the regular dine walk in exp during peak hours. so we availed a 75 pax event for my son. which ended up only at 60 pax during the day of event. the food tasted bland mostly. based on most of our guests comments . needed improvement to :

1. the event place was still a bit hot because there are aircon units that weren't turned on and they somehow refuse to turn the others on. maybe their main concern is the electric consumption. but i hope they just turned it on. imagine at least getting 10% more positive reviews just by being a bit "more considerate" since there were a lot of "kids and babies" . 2)during negotiation and contract signing. they promised that every food at the public lounge will also be served at the private lounge. it didn't happened and it was disappointing. there were too many foods missing at the menu for the event. no one bothered explaining cos the one that did the negotiation was nowhere to be found. we didnt questioned it but repleneshing the foods should have been faster esp the fast moving ones. small menu slow replenishing . 3)replenishing the foods took time. i mean they should somehow prepared for at least 50 initially ready per food but prob is after 10 or 20 people most foods were gone and i tried talking to one of the staffs politely but somehow she gave me this irritated look probably because they were busy ( but c'mon i was expecting a better service from you guys and i was being considerate so no need for the irritated look) . 4)juice tasted bland all of them. 5)and also they should have not let strangers went inside because they were trying to close another event deal. they should have at least asked for permission. 6)parking slots are few so if you have many guests with cars please be advised that its a first come first serve parking even if you have an event.

on the other side: I appreciate you guys letting 6 of us continue eating at the public lounge since we were busy during the event and wasnt able to enjoy the food. that's why we are able to compare the menu from our event. the head waiter was very accommodating but i just hope that the manager who closed the deal with us was still around that day cause he was more accommodating and friendly. ( sadly he got transferred to another branch)

would we do another event here ?probably not. would we dine here again? certainly walk in exp was...

There were a lot of food choices. However, there were a lot of flies and no staff around to make sure that the flies won't touch the food. There was 1 kbbq grill but the meat was just displayed without ice and flies were gathering around that area. The ice scramble (?) had a weird after taste (like the smell of nail polish). The saba with sago tasted okay but the saba was so tough. All of the flavored cold drinks are SUPER sweet. It's good that the food was not as oily, sweet, or salty as I expected. I think road repair was ongoing in front of the restaurant last week so senior citizens and pwds might need more support...

The place used to be just, Cabalen. And for reasons that they only keep to themselves, they dressed up this place, to be different diners. Which i guess, most of us see in different places. All in, under one roof. So, it appeared to be, like a fast food restaurant. But, if you're missing the old cabalen buffet, you have to book a setup of at least 30 pax. And, you will have your own place in the 2nd floor. They have also included a place, for those who just want to buy local ingredients for your home cuisines on the other side of the facility.
