Hodai is located within the residential area so parking can be a hit and miss. It's one of the many establishments that used to be houses and were later converted for commercial use. The entry/main entrance was quite nice as I think they have retained the original wooden door. Interior is also quite refreshing as most were still hardwood and many windows around which allows natural light to come in.
We went for a Saturday lunch and there were not many patrons around so staff were quick to sit and assist us. We availed of the Silver set (reg price at PHP499) and have mentioned to the staff on what to only bring out initially, as we didn't want to waste on food that we didn't want to eat anyway. We were taken by surprise when all of the items in the set were all served at once and the one item, Japchae, that we explicitly told them to bring out instead of the Rose Cream Pasta, did not even arrive but the latter one was served instead. We asked the waiter about this and was told that he was not informed and he just brought out our orders. We acknowledge that staff are really accommodating and willing to serve but communication could be improved.
Nonetheless, we just tried everything on the table but nothing really tickled my taste buds. The sushi rolls were kind of weird with I think a somewhat grape sauce on top. All of the other dishes also had a sweetness to it, be it the meal itself or the sauce that it came with. Every dish was weirdly sweet to the point that I just wanted a different taste to balance everything out.
At the end, we didn't even finish anything on the table and then we realized that we just ate a single portion (imagine the regret on our minds of paying for 2 people but have only eaten for 1). It is cheap for an all you can eat but you do get what you pay for. If you are one of those that are seeking out authentic Japanese food, suggest you look...

It was a long queue, but we waited anyway knowing it'll be worth it as it was not our first time to try their buffet. We arrived at 5:30 pm and were called at 8:35 pm. We're unbothered as we chose to wait that long. However, after being served our table and the food, I was appalled to find out how there has been a significant change in their serving. I started cooking the meat and all the seafood that came with the package we opted for and lo and behold, it didn't taste the same, not even better as what most food vloggers claimed it to be. Oysters and shrimps weren't fresh at all. Their meat has enormously shifted from being tasty due to it being marinated well to just it being served without any spice on it. Also, I used to like their cheese sauce, but not anymore since it tasted like margarine. The japchae was served on what appeared to be a sauce plate. We were a group of four and had only called twice for their staff to refill the meat. On our third call, none of them cared to serve us no longer. I felt sorry for the servers, who were outnumbered by the influx of customers. It was a disappointing way to celebrate one's birthday. We swore to never set foot into this Korean buffet...
