If you're looking for a place to take photos, sure. This place is great for that, but that's the only good part about it. Don't be too deceived by it.
Decor: When my friend and I ate there, it was packed, so we were offered an outside seating arrangement. I uncomfortably sat next to a plant, which was too big, it was already taking up the seating area. I had to sit at an angle for the entire meal. The floorboards were damaged. Every time someone would pass by and step on a certain board, my friend's chair would get lifted up. Not exactly a great eating experience. There were also large holes on the floor, located dangerously next to the chair legs!
Food: The Creamy Spinach Dip tasted like QuickMelt cheese, and there was barely spinach in it! This was the most expensive thing we ordered, and we wish we ate elsewhere for this instead. Php 490 for a QuickMelt and spinach sprinkle dip?!
The bolognese pasta I ordered tasted nothing like bolognese pasta. While it was red in color because of some tomatoes, it tasted just like the Creamy Spinach Dip. It was full of QuickMelt-tasting cheese and cream (on a bolognese pasta?!) I felt like I was eating the dip with noodles. I paid Php 378 for this?!
The truffle pasta my friend ordered tasted like a cream pasta with a drop of truffle. It was a sad attempt at truffle pasta. A sad Php 428 was spent on this.
The iced tea costs Php 150 for a glass. It was served in a triangular glass, where it was 80% iced tea, 10% ice, and 10% foam. It was okay, but too little for a Php 150 iced tea.
Saving the worst for lastâ
Service: Around 5 minutes after we ordered, a waitress arrived and served my friend's truffle pasta. We were confused as to why hers was served first, before the appetizer and the drinks, but we didn't worry about it too much. I told my friend to eat ahead, but she wanted to wait for my food to arrive so that we could eat together.
My friend and I took off our masks as we were sipping water and chatting while waiting for the rest of the food. A couple of minutes later, a waitress arrived and served my pasta and our appetizer. Just as we were about to eat, another waitress arrived, and suddenly took back my friend's pasta! She said "carbonara pala 'to" and replaced it with the truffle pasta my friend ordered.
After she took it, she walked past our table and served it to another customer! We were so shocked! It has been sitting in front of us for more than 10 minutes, and my friend and I have been chatting above it during that entire time! During COVID times, she should've been more vigilant about the food. It should've been replaced! What if my friend already ate a portion of it? Would we have been charged for it as well?
Aside from that shocking incident, it took us 4 follow-ups for our iced tea to arrive. We were already 3/4s of our way through the meal when it arrived.
Over-all, we had such a terrible experience. Would not recommend this...
Read moreDefinitely did not have a great experience.
We were asked if we would like to queue because the indoor seats were reserved for 7pm. We were then asked if we would like to sit in those seats, but only until 7pm. I then asked, could we also be queued so that, once 7pm comes around or if any al fresco seats opened up, we could be immediately be transferred to them thus keeping any 7pm reservations intact.
Maybe it was too much to think about because it was a busy night. But, we were told they would just prepare a table outside since some people had left. I held off ordering because we'd get transferred anyway. 30 minutes would go by and nothing happened. I was then told a different table was being prepared. Okay.... In my opinion, set a system of seating and queuing, and stick with it. I would rather be told that there is a certain way of going about things than waiting and not knowing what's going to happen.
With regards to the food, we ordered the: Pumpkin Soup - Not good. I was told their soups were creamy but it was watered down and for P230/person. Price to quality to portion ratio is way off.
Cordon Bleu - It was okay. The upgrade to Sweet Potato Mash was good. Could use abit more pepper but the mild sweetness makes this a good option to have, and maybe even just make it part of the original dish. Still, abit pricy.
Afterwards, we decided to have some drinks: Amaretto Sour - This should be renamed to Amaretto Sweet (Diabetes version) because I've had to add an entire glass of water to make it "just sweet".
Aperol Spritz - I'm not a fan of bubbly drinks but this one was very refreshing. The slight bitterness made it taste like grapefruits. Good for a night out. Highly recommended
Bonus: brought my dog and they gave her a puppuccino (dog bowl with a mound of whipped cream)
I did end-up asking for the bill 4 times, especially after seeing the table beside us get their bill first despite asking for it after I did. I was thinking to just get-up and leave in-order to get it. Maybe it was a...
Read morePrepare to be swept away by the culinary delights at Café Guilt! Every single item on their menu is absolutely delicious, from the perfectly cooked pasta to the scrumptious salmon bowl. Even their coffee, which can often be hit or miss, is top-notch.
But wait, it gets even better - their dessert is out of this world. The brazo with hot choco is the perfect balance of sweet and rich, leaving you feeling satisfied and indulged.
And the service? Fast and attentive, with staff that truly care about making your experience a memorable one. But what really sets this café apart is their love for our furry friends. Not only do they allow dogs inside the resto, but they even give out free puppuccinos - and when my good doggo wanted more, they happily gave us two!
However, I did notice a small issue during my visit. Despite asking and paying for soy milk, I suspect that my drink was made with regular milk. Unfortunately, my lactose intolerance acted up shortly after leaving the café, so be sure to double check if you have any dietary restrictions.
Overall, Café Guilt is an absolute gem and highly recommended for anyone looking for great food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere for both two-legged and four-legged customers. I can't wait to go back!
As an additional note, during my visit to Café Guilt, I noticed that there were three different menus available. While this may not be an issue for some, it can be confusing for others and lead to longer wait times when ordering.
To improve this aspect of the dining experience, I suggest implementing a digital ordering solution. Maybe check...
