I’d give this place a 5 stars if it weren’t for the slow service.

We ordered the house special Sanzokuyaki, large chunks of chicken fried to a delectable crisp. I would describe it as a kind of fusion between karaage (chunks of chicken) and chicken katsu (crispy), yet with its own unique kick. Also ordered the tamago yaki, a personal favorite of ours- probably the most authentic and fresh tamago we ever tasted in Manila. We’d probably go back here just for this dish. Salmon sashimi and Nikatsu pork cutlet also worth trying. Finally, Asari buttered clams was intriguing to try, but we were a bit disappointed so just save your appetite and pass this up. Overall, can’t really say anything less than tip top food quality, especially when you see (and watch) the owner himself is outright preparing the dishes. Price was equivalent to the quality of food, leaning on the premium side.

Like I said, would’ve rated 5 stars if it weren’t for the slow serving of our orders. The amount of cars parked outside is just evidence of this otherwise ordinary-looking restaurant. If you’re time constrained, this place might not be the...

A very low key Japanese Restaurant located in a quiet neighborhood near Timog. At first glance it looks like a regular food joint inspired by Japanese cuisine typical in the area. But upon savoring the dishes you can tell the authenticity. Not bad at all. Service is good and the price point is surprisingly affordable. Exploring their menu where some items are not regularly offered in other Japanese restaurants is curiously refreshing. Parking is a bit limited during the daytime and more accessible at night. Given the small place, I prefer the GF Seating compared to the 2F. No wifi. AC could use some...

I consider Zipang as my friendly neighborhood Japanese restaurant. The chef is Japanese so you know the food is legit.

Upon entering the restaurant, the attendants will give you a wet towel to wipe your hands and give you green tea for free.

They have bento, donburi and different ala-carte dishes.

My favorite is the chicken karaage because the chicken is so juicy! If you order a meal, it comes with different side dishes and miso soup! Another favorite is their sukiyaki (shown in photo). They also have the traditional Japanese dessert.

A must-try if you crave for authentic...
