My recent visit to Brotzeit BGC was deeply frustrating and unacceptable.
From the moment we arrived, the staff were inattentive and dismissive. Their attitude was curt, very dry and unfriendly, as though we were inconveniencing them. Proper customer service was non-existent. Zero.
The guy who took the order sounds condescending to a point that he was making me feel that I don’t have any idea what their food is. Mind them this was not my first time.
Service staff were talking to each other while serving the food without politely asking whose food is she serving to whom. She did not even bother to ask if we still need anything else and just continued chatting with her companion after.
What made the experience so much worse was the sense of discrimination on how we were treated. Is it because I was on my hospital uniform and not dressed as a foreigner which most of the time frequents this joint?
Can we not eat and be served politely like we deserve it just beause we do not look like expats?!
It was utterly disappointing to feel like we were being treated differently, not because of how busy the restaurant was, but because how I dressed or maybe how I looked. I can’t tell.
Politeness, fairness, and basic customer service are the least anyone should expect when dining out. Sadly, Brotzeit BGC failed on all these counts. The food was great as always but the potato wedges were salty enough for someone to develop a kidney disease. Kidding aside it was wayyy too salty.
Ultimately my take on this is that good food will always be overshadowed by bad customer service.
This is not to demean Brotzeit but to make them aware that they need to change their ways of working. This should not be taken too lightly, someone needs to step up and call this out before it creates a bigger issue/problem in...
Read moreI recently revisited Brotzeit Shangri-La, a place that holds fond memories for me, especially from 2016 when I used to frequent their other branch. Though I now live in Toronto, I still make it a point to drop by this location when I’m in town.
Upon entering, the staff gave us a choice between indoor or outdoor seating. We opted for the outdoor area, which was pleasant. The initial server wasn’t big on pleasantries, quickly taking our order and passing us on to another server. Fortunately, the next one more than made up for it; he was prompt, efficient, and managed to hold a short conversation, something I always appreciate.
We ordered the pork knuckle, pork steak, fries, beer sampler, and a couple of Cokes. The total came to ₱3,278.51 for four people, which I found reasonable for the quantity and quality of the food. I remember the pork steak being larger in the past, but despite the size difference, the taste remained excellent, with the garlic butter hitting the right notes. The pork knuckle was just as I remembered; crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, melting in your mouth. The fries were fresh and hot, and the mashed potatoes were rich and flavorful. The bacon-wrapped green beans were crunchy and fresh.
There was a slight hiccup when they forgot our drinks, but they quickly brought them out when reminded, so it wasn’t a big issue. Overall, the meal was filling for the four of us, and I was quite satisfied with the experience.
I still wish we had a Brotzeit in Toronto, but this visit definitely brought back good memories and didn’t disappoint. So nice to enjoy great quality food after eating overpriced garbage in Toronto… we really need...

-Our favorite beers are back and more!
-The servers are more attentive now with the items needed by the customers
-Quality of food is as amazing as always
-The new emperor’s pancake (for dessert) is fantastic!
-There was a slight problem with checking the Brotzeit points but was resolved towards the end.
Original post: We enjoy the overall experience of Brotzeit and that’s the reason why my family chooses it as one of our top “go to” restaurants in BGC.
Whenever we have a guest from abroad, we’d invite them to have dinner in Brotzeit.
Aside from the awesome food, we appreciate the delicious & quality beer.
It has always been a great experience except for today.
We went for dinner and it was a disappointment to know that my favorite beer and my alternative to it are not available because of a supplier problem.
Although we were delighted they suggested “Schofferhofer” beer and it was a great discovery…
We didn’t know that they have a limitation in stock, resulting to the need to adjust the 2nd round of beer to something that is not as good.
Also, it took a long time to get a spoon for my crème brûlée (first time it happened).
Hoping that we get to enjoy the same experience as before and pls take care of the...
