We went for an early dinner at 5pm. There was no one there when we arrived and we opted to sit in a 4-person table. The server immediately told us we couldn’t sit there and we must sit in a 2-person seat despite it being an entirely empty restaurant. Funnily enough, there was not another customer in the entire hour we ate there and now I know the reason why:
We ordered quite a few dishes including sashimi set for 2, but we were disappointed with the quality of service. For every small thing, we had to ask. For example, I’m not sure why you need to ask for a spoon when you order miso soup? They just forgot about it like they did many other things.
The sushi, aside from the sashimi, didn’t taste fresh and we couldn’t finish much. We also asked for extra ginger because they only gave a small plate of it (maybe 4 slices for 5+ sushi places including sashimi we ordered). When we got the bill, they charged us 250 pesos for each tiny bowl of extra ginger they brought. We asked the server why she didn’t notify us beforehand… she just smiled shyly and said sorry.
We asked to speak with the manager, and the server just said the manager wasn’t there. Not sure if true to be honest, but we were ready to leave. Worst service I’ve ever encountered in my entire life. Would never come back.
Note: this place also does fake 5 star reviews. If you look at the reviews, you’ll notice a string of 5 star reviews with no photos all posted on same day. Suspicious, right? That’s how some businesses inflate their...
Read moreKeizo is a tiny restaurant tucked away in Burgos circle with seating for about 12 people inside and around 8 outside, offering a cozy dining experience. The quality of the food here is a standout; particularly, the Chirashi Don is quite impressive. The wasabi served alongside is notably above average, adding a refined touch to the sushi experience. Additionally, the curry katsu and katsudon are both flavorsome and well-seasoned.
This place has quickly become my new go-to Japanese restaurant, surpassing others like Ogawa and Wasshoi in terms of food quality. The attentive service adds to the appeal, and the fact that the chef is Japanese lends an air of authenticity to the whole experience.
While the decor is an eclectic mix - modern chairs and wall paint coupled with traditional Japanese paintings and drawings - it doesn't detract from the culinary excellence.
In summary, if you're in the mood for some top-notch Japanese cuisine in a cozy, personable setting, Keizo is definitely worth a visit. The food speaks for itself and is sure to leave a...
Read moreIf you’re in for an authentic Japanese treat, head over to this quaint and quite hidden Japanese restaurant called Keizo. It is close to Burgos Circle, but it looks so small and humble that you might not be able to notice it.
The head chef is Japanese, so you can expect authentic oriental flavors. They have a wide range of dishes all laid out in a thick menu (see photos).
Food-wise, no question. The number of customers is a visible testament to that. The prices are higher than average, which is somehow unexpected. The place’s a bit cramped, and the crew needs to up their game. Service is reasonably slow.
It’s also worthy to mention that Keizo has been awarded as one of the best local sushi restaurants by Philippine Tatler for many...
