Dining at Locavore was an experience I will not soon forget, though for all the wrong reasons. What was meant to be a casual meal quickly descended into an unsanitary nightmare—one that no establishment with even a semblance of integrity should subject its patrons to.
The first red flag should have been the general filthiness of the restaurant, which bore the unmistakable marks of neglect. The floors were grimy, the tables had the lingering stickiness of hastily wiped-down surfaces, and an unsettling odor of stale oil and dampness lingered in the air. However, nothing could have prepared us for what arrived at our table next.
Nestled within our garlic fried rice was not just a culinary oversight but an outright health hazard—a cocoon of a cockroach. The sheer revulsion of discovering an insect casing within our food was only exacerbated by the staff’s absolute lack of concern. When we called their attention to it, expecting at the very least an apology or an immediate rectification, we were instead met with apathy. Not only did they fail to express even the slightest remorse, but the moment they noticed my phone in hand—presumably to document this atrocity—they snatched the plate away before any evidence could be captured. This was not an act of damage control but one of concealment, a desperate attempt to erase any proof of their kitchen’s complete disregard for sanitation.
As if the contamination of our meal wasn’t egregious enough, the staff had the audacity to complain about our presence. Arriving an hour before closing, we were made to feel as though we were imposing simply by dining there. One of the employees, with visible annoyance, remarked that our presence extended their shift “a tad bit longer,” as though their convenience outweighed our right to a meal free of insect larvae. The blatant lack of professionalism was astounding.
This was not merely a case of poor service—it was an exposure to a blatant disregard for hygiene, ethics, and customer respect. A restaurant that prioritizes rushing out its guests over basic cleanliness is one that should not be operating at all. There are countless dining establishments in the city that manage to uphold even the most rudimentary standards of sanitation and hospitality—Locavore is evidently not one of them.
To those considering a visit, I urge you to think twice. No amount of culinary reputation can justify a dining experience where insects accompany your meal and where customer concerns are dismissed without a...

Drinks. I tried to order the Arbularyo. Please, with only half the syrup. They are unable to do this. They suggested the Hardin. The drink was pretty. It tasted fine. Where's the alcohol? It was like a fancy virgin drink. Baby squid - very, very delicious. One of the saviors of the evening.😀 Fried lumpia - super greasy and lacking in flavor. Not crispy. ☹️ BBM - it's pork belly. It was very dry. It had no flavor. I had to douse in sauce. I liked the burong little shrimp. The presentation was great, but the flavor was lacking.🤨 Pancit with crab aligue. I was super excited about this. I asked for patis and calamansi to wake up the flavor. I was still unsatisfied. Maybe if it was served more hot?😟 Gising gising - delicious! So glad we ordered this.😊 Sizzling sinigang - really? It was super salty. Let me describe the flavor. It's like you mixed salty gravy mix with sinigang mix. 😢Thank goodness for the perfectly cooked green beans. Fried chicken - I did not try. I heard it was also lacking in flavor.☹️ My sister tried to fix it by eating with gising gising sauce.
I arrived super hungry. That accounts for the huge order. There was a tv screen with videos of the food being prepared. Everything looked fantastic. We were all super excited! We left super...
Read moreI ordered the mango mojito and it tasted good I think it was made with green mango that’s why you will get the acidity/bitterness from. Good drink overall I would give it a 3 star for this cocktail since the mint leaves were old and dark and not appealing to look at. See pic. Also ordered the tuna fish stake don’t let the size fool you, 50% is bone but the meat part is very tasty and with strong fish flavor if you are up for it. I do. We also order 4or 5 more dishes that come on skillets. For a skillet dish it comes with a medium to medium-low temperature. In case you want to know or like it hotter. My preference is a little warmer by the way I ordered Caldereta and it was served on a plate… it was almost cold. I liked the items that go with your food as toppings (see pic) from onions, sautéed onions, cracklings and a lot more on different dishes which made them very pretty to the eyes. The octopus paella was a bit on the salty side but tasty nonetheless. Overall food was a 4 star. Great stuff. Service was a little lacking, after our order was delivered to our table nobody come back to take another cocktail order, or to check if all our order arrived well. so we save the drinks for another place. Service is key for me so this department gets a 3 star. Overall good place to enjoy lunch...
