My partner and I have been wanting to come to Piwnica for a while now as we have moved to Gdansk permanently and finally decided that today was the day.
We arrived around 3pm, 3 waitresses and 1 waiter outside, no one approached us, instead the ladies were just standing to the side and the older guy seemed to be flirting with some girls, none the less we thought we will come back later, hopefully better service... we arrived after 7pm and the again, no one outside even approached us so we walked inside on our own. We waited 15 min where no waitress came to give us menus or greet us. Eventually we were given menus but were truly shocked at how the waitress approached us and treated us, spilling our beer without an apology or even cleaning up, not checking to see if we are okay or need anything further, very shallow and unpleasant, the service was shockingly terrible and despite the beers being fantastic, the atmosphere of the waitresses really ruined the experience we were so excited to experience for so long.
I sincerely hope this is was a once off thing. Usually we like supporting restaurants and bars in our area but this is a no go for us and we also won't be recommending to any expats in the area. What a...
Read moreMy husband and I first met by the Neptune Fountain in Gdańsk 6 years ago- neither of us are from Poland or live there, but we love it so much that we decided to get married in Gdańsk - right next to where we first met and have our wedding reception at Piwnica Racjow and all I can say is WOW!
The food, service and experience were incredible. All of our guests complimented the high quality and taste of the food and the generous portion sizes! They enjoyed the selection of wine and amazing beers too. I would highly recommend Piwnica Rajcow as a venue for an event. Even for over 100 guests there was no compromise on how amazing the quality of the food was.
We visited several times for lunch or dinner before the wedding and always enjoyed the great quality food and fair prices- the cocktails and desserts are also amazing!
The place is so so beautiful and with so much history, in such an important location in Gdańsk, we will visit Piwnica Rajcow everyime we visit Gdańsk for sure. With huge thanks to the Owner and lovely staff for an incredible...

Everyone was always pleasant, and they sat me at a table for four, despite that there was a party of 4 waiting right behind me (after being seated, I did offer to give up my place, but the waitress declined saying that I was also waiting. 👍👍) How could I complain about that?
I had the beer tasting and their fish & chips. The best beer for me was their Viennese Lager. The Baltic Porter was a close second. The others were a bit too bitter for my taste. But of course, the more you drank the better they all tasted….
F&C… the fish was good, not your typical British/Scottish style but, well, I assume a more northern-Polish variant. Still tasty. The “chips” were just your basic fries and a lot of them. All in all, a 2.5, but also I don’t think people come here for that. I would happily come here again and try a burger or something (there were many interesting options...
