Sumi has always been my favorite sushi restaurant in Kraków ever since I found out about the restaurant. I ate there multiple times and I ordered pretty much the same things over and over again- salmon sashimi and some nigiris. However, today it was a total disappointment. (The image here is after I have eaten a part of the food) I went to the restaurant and there was no seat since all table were reserved. So I decided that I will be order something to take away this time. I was putting a very high expectation of the quality and it turns out to be the worse experience I’ve had with Sumi. The order was prepared in less than 10mins (I was surprised by the speed). However, when I opened this beautiful box, I couldn’t believe this is what I can have from Sumi. The salmon has some dark part which I’ve never seen in any other time I ordered to dine in. The daikon looks like it has been out of the fridge for hours (normally it looks in light yellow, and crunchy). It’s soft and sour. Randomly some slice of cucumber at the end and a small piece of lettuce on the side? I’m not expecting a take away portion to look as beautiful as a dine-in dish and I wouldn’t have written this review if it was not because of the quality of the food. The only reason why I didn’t give an 1 is just because all past experiences were amazing but I wouldn’t order the take away for the...

The chef’s seasoning and presentation added a refined touch that elevated the meal beyond expectations. For anyone with an interest in Japanese cuisine, I highly recommend giving this restaurant a try. The quality offered here is exceptional, and the pricing is very reasonable considering the standard.
The interior design also deserves mention—it reflects traditional Japanese aesthetics with elegance and restraint. However, I did notice two calligraphy pieces on the wall that seemed inaccurately translated. One displayed the characters for “North South East West” (incorrect: 北南東西, correct: 東南西北) in an unusual order, and another combined “Fire Earth Wind Water”(incorrect:火地球風水, correct:風火水土) in a way that didn’t align with traditional elemental groupings. While this doesn’t detract from the dining experience, correcting these details would enhance the authenticity of the space.
Overall, a memorable meal with excellent value and...
Read moreImagine you've been to 149 Michelin restaurants around the world, including the best Japan has to offer, and also done Omakase tastings from New York City to California. Then imagine of all of that, the BEST sushi tasting you have ever had is in a small cute spot in Krakow! That's right, taste to taste, the 11 course Omakase at Sumi Sushi is the BEST!
Every single course was completely YUMMM. 38 pieces total of heaven. Highlights included the spicy salmon, the sweet potato, and the tempura shrimp with passion fruit. For the latter two, the contrast of warmness with normally cold sushi was brilliantly done.
Even though you will be stuffed silly after so much food, add on the super unique Matcha Cheesecake dessert and go back home as happy as can be.
Oh one other thing, the price/value is amazing. As in I thought they did the bill wrong. Granted there aren't high end ingredients like wagyu or sea urchin or caviar, but for this much completely delicious food, this was one of the best value meals of my life in any country (81 traveled). Bravo, Sumi...
