Bar Mleczny Gdański — Restaurant in Warsaw

Really far below what I would have liked. Okay the location is nice and generally clean, with a modern look and quick service the initial impression is very positive. However the food... That's where there is an issue. I took a lunch menu, image attached, for 19 złoty. Decent price but the food I got wasn't worth half that. Two small pieces of dry meat, a slab of potatoes which again wasn't that good, and a tomato soup which tasted like cheap quality food at best. The carrots had something mixed in, however that actually wasn't terrible and added a lot to the food. The kompot also just fine, at least it wasn't tiny. Considering that I can get a better meal, at a better price nearby, I can't give this more...

This bar mleczny holds a special place in my heart, as it brings back fold memories of my theatre lessons. 🎭 My friends and i would often stop by this restaurant for a quick yet cheap meal. 🥦While the food is not particularly mouth- watering, it is quite comforting as well as satisfying.😇

Obviously, The grand Gdański bar mleczny features the classics of polish cuisine, it would be a sin not to order pierogi ruskie. 🥟 Although they’re not the most exceptional i’ve ever tasted, they certainly are reasonably priced. (the ones with spinach are better)🤓☝️

A bar mleczny (literally translated as "milk bar" from Polish) is a Polish cafeteria which during the Communist era provided government-subsidized traditional Polish cuisine at low cost. I got so much food by accident, I had to change part of my order for take away. Absolutely delicious no frills spot. Plenty of tables and space on a Tuesday at 13h/13.30h. Can order in English from the self service screens or pay at the ordering counter. The staff were super helpful and friendly. Also ordered their potato pancakes (not pictured) and you get 4 of them!
