Discovered this place in Warsaw! As a Swede, half living in Warsaw and half in Sweden, i have to try it! The reviews are generally the best but i wonder if even half of them have been to Sweden and eaten a cinnamon bun or cardamom bun!?!
It's not that complicated since both cinnamon and cardamom are found in Poland! I ordered a "Blueberry bun" which seems to be a cross over variant of a cinnamon bun! Ordered a cardamom bun and it turned out to be a form of Tosca bun! Regardless of whether it was wrong, I didn't feel any cinnamon or cardamom, which shouldn't be that difficult!
The place is still a bit cozy even though it's cramped and has few seats, but it seems like at least half of the customers take take away. It would also be nice if Swedish music was blaring out of the speakers, which would still contribute a little extra to the "Swedish atmosphere"!
I guess it lightens up in the summer with a little outdoor seating!
They try with the interior but it's not quite enough for me!
The pricing is a bit on the high side considering the location and what you actually sell. But if you have 3 employees behind the counter, it costs money, and that's at least 1 too many!
A little tip would be to complement it with some easy simple super Swedish "Chocolate balls" and "Vacuum cleaners", simple little cakes that would complement it really well. The coffee tastes delicious and the cakes are ok, but nothing exciting!
In short, i might consider a visit one more this summer when I'm passing by! Not entirely wrong and a good part of the way but not...
Read moreA very nice looking, small cafe! Receives bonus points for making the buns vegan, though sadly both me and my wife were disappointed with the cinnamon buns... As someone who’s been eating them since I was but a child, I hate to admit that what we had here didn’t quite taste of Swedish kanelbulle. And for this is price I have to say that I expected something quite marvelous, possibly with imported ingredients! The same goes for my wife, who lived in Sweden 4 years and loves cinnamon buns.
Two weeks after the visit, I decided to make my own cinnamon buns at home to see if perhaps it had something to do with the Polish milk and butter. But no, having followed a very typical Swedish recipe, mine actually had a much richer taste to them! This probably has to do with my choice of ingredients, as it's important for the flavor.
In any case, I’m still keen to try out the other buns that they are selling, as well as having a coffee inside! Not in a hurry though, so it’ll happen whenever I’m in that neighborhood.
UPDATE: Well, I'm sorry to say that my second visit doesn't change my opinion or rating. This time I purchased a typical Swedish Tosca bun on the go for my wife, but not only did this too have quite a weak and slightly off taste to it, but it was also burned in several places - including a lot of the almond flakes on top - heavily affecting the taste... Sadly, this means that neither me nor my wife will be giving this cafe any...
Read moreI remember the first time I tried these buns, it was in Krakow 1.5 years ago and they just drove me crazy from the first bite. I went to this bakery several times while I was there and I can say that definitely it was the most delicious buns in my life. I was so glad to find out that they opened in Warsaw and upon arriving here I immediately decided to go for these buns. But unfortunately no magic happened here. The buns were different, no like they were in Krakow. I can’t say that they had bad taste or smth, no, they tasted pretty good, but the buns were just completely ordinary and I didn’t get that “wow effect” like I catched earlier in Krakow. I think maybe my expectations were too high. The cardamom bun had no cardamom flavor. From all the buns I tried this time here I liked the one with berries more than others. The staff here is...
