True story — Restaurant in Warsaw

Yesterday we had dinner at True Story. The interior is stylish – definitely more suited for evening outings rather than, say, a business meeting.

We ordered the beef tartare on hash browns, a cold beet soup (chłodnik), and a roast beef salad.

Beef tartare – 4.5/5. I took off half a point because the meat gets slightly cooked from the hot hash browns, which I’m not a fan of (I like when tartare keeps that pure raw flavor). My husband actually liked it that way, though. The presentation was beautiful – I didn’t even have time to take a photo, it was that good.

Chłodnik – my husband’s first time trying it, served with caramelized potatoes. He gave it a solid 4/5, which for soup is a great score in our book.

Roast beef salad – tender, flavorful meat, I’m giving it 4.5/5. I only wish there had been less dressing; next time I’ll ask for it on the side.

Also had a non-alcoholic piña colada – I’m a fan, so that’s an easy “yes” from me.

Service was friendly and unobtrusive. The waitress asked which dishes we’d like to share and in what order to bring them. Menus are available in both English and Polish, and I even heard some of the staff speaking Russian.

True Story is a cozy and stylishly designed restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere — a comfortable place to spend an evening. The interior is modern but warm, the music is soft and unobtrusive, and the overall first impression is positive.

We ordered a variety of dishes to explore the full range of the menu, and each one truly impressed us. Everything was perfectly prepared: the flavors were well-balanced, the textures were thoughtfully executed, and the presentation was elegant and refined. It’s clear that the kitchen works with attention to detail and respect for ingredients.

The service was also excellent — the staff were polite, attentive without being intrusive, and well-versed in the menu. The servers helped with recommendations and were always present at just the right moment.

Very cozy, comfortable and calm place in the heart of Warsaw ❤️ They have big breakfast menu with both sweet and savory options, and what’s very impressive - they know how many calories there are in their dishes! Rare stuff!

A lot of tea options there as well and evening and lunch menu is also very well-put with a lot of different options!

The service is very nice there as well, very sweet person was taking care of us during our visit ❤️

I was very impressed with the bathroom as well with the changing toilet seat coverage (you click the button and the coverage on the seat is changed to a fresh one - so needed, especially for ladies, and unfortunately so rare to see in Warsaw.

I will definitely go there again - I’m sure it will become one of my favorite places...
