The food was good, but the customer service was extremely disappointing. The main issue seemed to be their rigid and unreasonable table policy. Despite planning to order 3-5 dishes (excluding drinks), we were placed at a tiny table for two. We politely asked if we could move to a bigger table, but a different waitress rudely refused. Later, when it was time to place our order, another waitress informed us there wasn’t enough space for all our food. As a result, we had to cancel three dishes and only ordered two.
What’s baffling is that their policy prioritizes restricting table seating over maximizing customer satisfaction and sales. Other restaurants focus on service and accommodating guests, but here, the staff seemed unwilling to make adjustments. When I raised the issue, a different waitress—not the one who took our order—dismissively responded, "Impossible," with a smirk, which came off as rude and unprofessional.
To make things worse, before we left, we noticed that there were 3-4 vacant, bigger tables available. Imagine how many orders are being canceled just because they refuse to seat two people at a larger table. Imagine how much revenue they’re losing because of this policy! Allowing customers to sit at a bigger table upon request is actually a smart marketing strategy—if someone asks for more space, it often means they plan to order more. Unfortunately, this restaurant doesn’t seem to understand that concept.
I strongly suggest better training for their staff, especially in customer service. A restaurant should not just serve good food but also create a welcoming experience for its customers. Hopefully, management takes action to improve their service and rethink...
Read moreA strong NO, especially given the fact you have to queue to get in
Atmosphere
Is not there The ground floor is quite lively, the the upper level feels deserted though the restaurant was full. Interior is also far from anything to be remembered
Service
The worst I have seen in Wroclaw so far. No one asked how we wanted our food served, it all came at once. No course order. Despite long time to wait for the food no complimentary appetizer was served. Also, the waitress didn't care to take the empty glasses or dirty dishes away. We were just having piles of used crockery on the table and had to explicitly ask them to pick it up. To tell more, toilets are not clean regularly. No toilet paper, Bins overflowing with paper towels.
Food
Is not great. In addition to being served all together, except a long pause between coffee and dessert, the food was not delicious. Arturo gnocchi from seasonal menu was lacking tartufo flavor and flavor in general. Salt and pepper is not on the table. Had to ask for parmigiana explicitly. The pizza is lacking flavor and has a huge crust. Dessert from seasonal menu lacks balance in its structure. Also, no wine selection in there. I ordered a glass of Chardonnay which is on menu just to be told only house wine...
Read more🍴 I recently dined at Oliwa i Ogień Oławska and overall, I had a positive experience. The restaurant is located in the center of the city, which can make it a bit crowded, so I would definitely recommend making a booking if you can. The staff was very welcoming and professional, which added to the overall ambiance of the place.
👍 One of the standout dishes for me was the pizza. It was one of the best I have had in the city, with a perfect balance of flavors and a crispy crust. The pasta also looked great and I plan on trying it during my next visit. The desserts were unique and tasty, making for a great ending to the meal.
👎 While the location adds to the atmosphere, it can also make the restaurant a bit noisy and busy. Additionally, while the wine selection was decent, I found it to be a bit pricey compared to other options in the area.
👨🍳 Overall, Oliwa i Ogień Oławska is a solid choice for Italian cuisine in the city center. The pizza alone is worth a visit, but the welcoming staff and unique desserts make it a well-rounded experience. Just be prepared for the crowds and a slightly higher price point...
