A solid lunch and sometimes dinner spot in Evora with a low key laid back environment. Yes the food can be salty sometimes but what restaurant doesn’t compared to home cooking. Generally overall they are accommodating and generous. The service isn’t rushed and it’s part of the charm.
A lot of the negative reviews are a bit unfair. This place is for locals and those who live here and to those weary and hungry travelers. It’s not a rushed spot or is it claiming to be a Michelin star joint. It’s a cozy local spot.
They make brilliant alentejo pork with clams, prawn stew and meat dishes. Their dessert serica is nice and fluffy without too much sugar. House wine is good. Local bread and olives are good. So if you do go have a good chill and relax in the afternoon or in the evening and...
Read moreThe folks at the hotel that we were staying at recommended that we try this restaurant out. After reading the reviews we decided to give it a go but would probably not go back again. The table next to us was having dessert which looked really delicious so we ordered the chocolate mousse. As mentioned in quite a few reviews here, the shark with clams was too salty but the chicken was seasoned very well and was different but the kids enjoyed it. but the hottest part for us was the language barrier because no one spoke English and it was very hard to communicate. I would probably not go back to this restaurant...

We opted to order off the menu. I had pork and clams in the Alentejo style (served in a pan with a broth of wine and red peppers (I think!) which was delicious, and my husband had the black pork cutlets with asparagus migas (a bread pudding of sorts,) a standard accompaniment in this area. We shared a jar of white sangria, which I would liken to Orange Crush. A bit too sweet, with a layer of sugar in the bottom of the pitcher and hard to notice the wine. I would try the red, next time. Yes, I would go back. Service...
