We stopped in Evora on our drive from Seville to Lisbon. Did a quick search online and found this charming little restaurant. We didn't realize we might need reservations and they were completely full.....But they asked us to come back in 30 minutes for a table. Pedro was waiting for us to arrive and quickly sat us. Everyone working there was extremely helpful and accommodating - important considering our very limited knowledge of the Portuguese language!
The food was all excellent! To start, the baked cheese with herbs was perfect. Even more surprising was the cold tomato soup with figs and cheese! Best fresh tomato soup I've ever had. For our main meal I had seared lamb over pureed peas -again- the lamb was possibly the best I've ever eaten. And the peas were a revelation! Complemented the lamb perfectly.
My wife had slow cooked beef over a celery puree with a large piece of bone marrow as a bonus. The meat was fall apart tender and the celery base was the perfect companion.
Even though they were clearly ready to close up until dinner time, they insisted that we stay and have a bite of desert and 2 coffees. Also delicious!
A charming and memorable experience we would recommend to anyone...
Read moreI walked in without a reservation and thankfully the staff was able to seat me. They have a wide selection of wine but I didn’t try any. To start, I ordered the goat cheese with walnuts and honey. Apparently the version I received was a slight modification since they didn’t have enough of the cheese, but the chef did an excellent job! Sweet and savoury were well balanced and the crunchy nuts added a great texture.
I chose one of the specials for my main, the osso buco. What a treat! The meat shredded with a fork and went so well with the gravy and celery purée. I was fairly stuffed after finishing it!
But I could not resist trying dessert. Intrigued by the drunken pear, I had it paired with Moscatel. The ice cream was especially good.
Service was friendly and checked in on me regularly. They spoke English well, which made it easier to ask questions. The restaurant did not have a square meter to spare, but it was pleasantly lit and decorated and not too loud.
I would recommend this place if you are looking for a more...

For the main course, we savored the duck, which was cooked to perfection, tender, and rich in flavor. To finish, we indulged in a traditional Portuguese dessert, the perfect sweet ending to an impeccable meal.
