This place is simply marvelous and a must-go for everyone visiting the city of Evora (also for those visiting Lisbon, because it is just 1 hour by car). This place has history and tradition in every inch because all the sweet’s recipes have way more than 200 years and come from the monasteries in ancient Portugal. So, you will be tasting a delicacy extremely delicious and also with real history in it.
You can talk about the history of each of theses sweets with the lady that works there (Ms. Ercília) she is the one who prepare all the sweets and she can tell you more about each of the sweets, but do not ask about the ingredients or the recipe, she does not tell the details.
I deeply suggest you to taste the “Pão de Rala” which is the delicacy that baptizes the place and is marvelous, very delicious and special. You can find here the typical 'queijadas de Evora' between others. But as the name says, the star product is the 'Pão de Rala'... during this visit we did not taste them but in some other visits we were happy to find this awesome marzipan cake filled with egg sweet, looking like a alentejo bread... the prices are a bit higher then what you can find in the center but the quality worth paying the diference. In the center you can also find products from 'Pão de Rala' at 'Inn plaza' (from family relatives) just next to Praça do...

When I asked what one of the pastries was, one of them replied in a cold, almost annoyed tone. It truly felt like they were doing us a hugeeeee favor by taking our order. I am sure there are equally good pastries in the city, or nearby, where we will be better received. Not returning. PS: I am not even a tourist, I...
