We loved this little place. Its on a very cozy side street characterized by the Portugese cobble stones, oodles of restaurants and nice shops. The food quality was fantastic. In particular the salad with strawberries, brie cheese, honey and vinaigrette was probably the best salad I have had in years. My wife loved the pork cheeks as well. The service was top notch too. One hard thing to remember in Portugal is that when you pay by credit card (which is not common as many places only take cash) they don't plug in the option to choose a tip percentage. You have to tell them in advance that you want them to charge a specified amount including a tip. When I tried to cancel my transaction because I forgot to tip the server (probably an owner) insisted I not tip and continue with the transaction. This place is an absolute MUST when visiting Evora. From their incredibly friendly and attentive staff (our waiter João simply made our experience a “10” from his help with wines and food recommendations that were Spot On!) to the deliciousness of all their food, we recommend this as THE ONLY place to eat in Evora. In fact, we loved our first lunch so much (mushroom risotto with tenderloin steak and a dry aged rib eye cooked before your eyes on a hot stone at the table) that we came back the next day to try more (which is something we very rarely ever do when visiting a new area). João had us try some local favorites that we wouldn’t have known to order and they did not disappoint. We made a booking online for this restaurant and had it confirmed however we were made to wait 25’ for our table where a couple with two babies were just waisting everybody’s time. The senior waiter was apologetic and professional. The junior one was trying way too hard to be funny (it’s a restaurant, not a circus) and didn’t read the room properly. Took our order wrong and brought a cold steak when we all had finished our meals. Trying to be funny only works if you get the basics right otherwise it becomes a real burden which is what happened here.
