Chef's Peking — Restaurant in Albufeira

If you are a person of colour dont go here. From entering the premises we were ignored. We walked past around 4 staff members and arriving at the till before being spoken to. As we stood waiting all eyes were on us but no body was talking to us. We asked for a table, were seated and left for nearly 20mins before some gave us a menu. It took another 10mins to order a drink. Then we waited another 30mins before giving up. While sitting there were waiting staff steering us down while stuffing their faces wile we just waited. When I approached the till I was asked if I was leaving? Which i found very strange. There was no apology for leaving us sitting there. When my friend confronted her on the fact that as the ONLY 2 black people we were not treated like the other customers who were all white and also spoke English. She said the other staff couldn't help due to the language barrier, which was total rubbish. As I mentioned all the other customers were speaking English and our waiter who took iur dtink order spike in English.

There wasn't much that could be done so we left. In all the years of visiting Portugal I've never experienced this and it's a shame.

It won't stop me from coming back but will not be eating at this...

The food was genuinely good and clearly made fresh, which we appreciated. However, our experience was significantly overshadowed by the behavior of the main manager or owner. We were a large group and, naturally, placed our orders at different times. This seemed to upset the lady in charge, who told us quite sternly that all orders should be placed at once to avoid affecting service for other customers.

She even questioned our level of hunger to avoid us placing more orders as she wanted us to order everything at one go only, which felt controlling and unwelcoming. Her tone and approach made the atmosphere uncomfortable — to the point that we felt hesitant even to ask for water or order anything additional.

It’s unfortunate, because the food was enjoyable, but the service left us feeling stressed rather than satisfied. A more understanding and courteous approach, especially with larger groups, would make a...

The food tasted really good, but it was a major drawback that we had to wait 1 hour for the starter and then another 1 hour and 15 minutes before the main course arrived – meaning it took 2 hours and 15 minutes from the time we arrived until we got our main course. It was not worth waiting that long. The guests at the table next to us arrived after we did, got their main course shortly after our starter, and left the restaurant before us. We probably won’t be coming back. I also asked for chili with the food but never received it. The portions were small as well. The explanation for the long wait was that people who had booked a table were served first. If that is the restaurant’s policy, and the staff already know in advance that it may take up to 2 hours before food can be served to guests without a booking, then why let more people into the...
