AVOID AT ALL COST IF YOU ARE A YOUNG WOMAN/SOLO TRAVELER!!! Came here as it was highly recommended and I have to say the food was delicious and I was ready to rave about it however I could NEVER give this place any more than a one star after my experience tonight. I am on my last night of my solo trip and came here to enjoy the food however, when it came time to pay I requested card and was informed the card machine was down and I can go to the ATM. I was never informed this before my meal as they typically allow card and would have went somewhere else as I didn’t have a physical card in my possession to take cash out only Apple Pay. I understand this is an awkward situation for both the restaurant and myself however what happened next is unforgivable. I’m a 23 year old girl travelling alone for the first time, and I stupidly said I was on my own and I’ve no one to take out cash to help me out . The waiter then said “you’re on your own” “that’s very good that’s very nice” in a very uncomfortable manner. He then proceeded to ask what hotel I was staying in and he can bring me to my hotel to get cash. When I informed him this is not possible he then said “I can pay for you” I insisted that is not possible as I don’t have any cash to give him. He then said MULTIPLE TIMES “I will pay and you think of a solution to pay me” in a very uncomfortable creepy manner. I think it’s pretty obvious what he was disgustingly and scarily insinuating. I am still so in shock over this event. Thank goodness there was a group of men at a close by table who had revolt that I could send them in exchange for cash and got out of there as quickly as possible. It’s so scary how fast a situation can change to something so unsafe. Please girls don’t come here and find yourselves in a situation...
Read moreThis place exceeds expectations in not only the main entree, but also appetizers, sides, and the homemade beverages as well. It was so nice to be served high quality rice flavored with cardamom and other spices which is something I always look forward to when eating Indian food, however I've noticed most places in Portugal just using plain rice. This restaurant not only has real Indian rice flavored with cardamom, but also offers many different rice options. The vegetable samosa was stuffed with very fresh ingredients unlike the average restaurants who all serve what looks and tastes like canned food as the filling, and the somosa here also had a mild kick to it which was just as amazing as it was unique. Everything I ordered was delicious. I think anyone reading my review and considering trying this place should definitely trust my opinion, as I've had a lot of experience with Indian food and I'm suggesting you give this place a try. It's not often you get to go out and have your expectations pleasantly surprised at every opportunity, and for a very decent price. In the mid-day it offers a quiet atmosphere, or lively...
Read moreWe dined at Indian Nights at 6:30 PM, being the first customers. The waiter was very attentive, likely because we were the first to arrive. We were a bit indecisive about what to order, so we asked for a recommendation. He suggested the mixed grill for two, which we agreed upon.
However, before the main course, the waiter brought us starters - papadum - saying, "I will give you," implying it was on the house. This was also done with the "extra lamb". When the bill arrived, we were surprised to see an extra charge of €8 for the lamb and €4 for the papadum. The only truly complimentary item was the sauce.
The mixed grill itself was €32 (see photo). While the food tasted good, the portion was too large for two people; half the portion would have been sufficient. The wine is too expensive for one glass. In total we dined for 68 euro. Overall, the experience was overshadowed by the feeling that the waiter was pushing additional items as if they were complimentary when they were not (only sauce and a sambuca shot). Be aware of this if you choose...
