Ambrosio — Restaurant in Albufeira

We first called here just to have a drink as it was a very warm afternoon. We were made immediately welcome and the staff were so friendly. Had drinks and had a look inside. It was beautiful inside so the decision was made that we would come back to eat. My wife and I called again in the afternoon, had drinks again and checked the opening times which was all day. We returned that evening and asked for a table inside as it was so tastefully decorated. Once again we were made to feel very welcome and were well looked after. We shared a sautéed mushroom starter which was delightful and ordered a bottle of rose wine to go with the meal. For main I had prawn linguine, and my wife had the creamy chicken linguine. They were both excellent as was the wine. We would like to have had dessert but the starter was very filling. We asked for the bill and were both given a complimentary ruby port. Very disappointing visit to Ambrosio. We visited on 30th June a group of 10 which they accommodated.

Good points: House wine was nice, salmon main dish was well coooked and flavourful.

Bad points: Bruschetta starter was cold (2 of us had). Mushroom starter was swimming in oil and the meat part was cold (6 of us had). Lobster linguine was bland and didn't look like lobster (more like langoustine, 2 of us had). The chicken and pasta dish was bland and tasteless and wasn't a proper chicken breast (5 of us had). We were not offered parmesan or black pepper like the other tables. The service was poor, waiters forgetful and unattentive, was hard to summon for bill.

Had a bad experience in what looks to be a lovely restaurant. We ordered a pizza, fries and lemon chicken linguene. It took about 50 mins to receive. The pizza and fries came and were hot and fresh. The chicken came and it was barely luke warm. I called another waiter over. Told him and he asked me what I wanted him to do with it. I said change it for a fresh one I can’t eat that I’ll be sick. Came back 5 mins later and it was definitely heated in a microwave and was horrible. So I called my original waiter back and I said remove that please and from my bill that is disgusting. We had also ordered beers that were forgotten about and I had to ask my waiter to get them. Would never return and extremely slow...
